Yes, moderate all day. Still leaving sonic at 9 or meet up with us at Santo around 9:45.

Breaking in new shoes for the first time. How careful do I need to be? Heard they'll be slippery for the first 200ish miles

You will be perfectly fine. Shouldn't be any worries at all.

It varies from tire to tire, I think 200 miles is a bit high. Basically what your doing is getting the coating on the tires wore off. 20 or 30 miles would probably be enough if you could have the entire surface of the tire touching the ground.

With this being a moderate ride it'll be a good run for new tires. Enough twisties to get some lean in, but not high enough speeds to get crazy.

You also need to get a couple heat cycles into new tires before they grip the best. I think that's where the 200 miles comes from.

My last 2 sets of tires were installed right before track days. The first I got a few heat cycles in on the highway before I loaded the bike to go to the track. The most recent I just rode like a hobby-horse (gas, brake, gas, brake) from the paddock down to the gas station and back.

For street riding you really don't need to care. Just don't push the tires too hard (which you won't on a moderate ride) and you'll be fine.

A buddy of mine from work said he was going to do the ride with us. His name is Jonathan and will more than likely be on his Ninja 650R. Believe it's red. Give him the finger and tell him to get lost if I'm not there when he gets there...just kidding... :SideSplittingLaughter:

Good ride today, thanks to Dave and Matt for setting that up. It's always more fun to ride with people. Sadly for some strange reason they didn't have my bag....WTF The owner was very nice about it and said he would mail it to me if they found it. I know for a fact they had it at one time and i'm not blaming them, but someone there has my bag and until i get it back i won't be giving them any of my money. Thanks for everyone who came out and to the new guys!!!
