If we don't get a BUNCH of rain over the next 3 or 4 days, I can't put the boat in Benbrook. It's down 5 feet now. :-o

The boat is OUT for next weekend! :( I pulled it out of storage today and was getting it ready (just in case the lake filled up). Well, the carb and tank was dry, so I filled it up and 'primed' the carbs with a shot of gas. It tried to start, but wouldn't run more than a second or two. I shut her down and got in the truck to go get some starter fluid. Just as I was leaving, I thought that I should put the battery charger on it since it was having problems getting going. When I opened up the engine cover, what I saw was .... FIRE!!!! The SOB backfired and had three little fires going in the engine compartment!

Took it to the shop today and the damage isn't too bad, but it won't be fixed by the camping trip. :( Sorry guys and gals ... we'll have to do the boat another time.

As much as I have been looking forward to this, the weather looks like rain all weekend. Last time we camped in the rain it was no fun. Is there enough people who still want to camp out, or would we be better off calling off the camping trip, and maybe trying to get together at F&H for some drinks together or something?

I think it's a bit early to call based on weather. The 10 day forcast is never accurate.

I do agree though, if it's going to rain all weekend we should see about getting a refund and rescheduling the camping party.

The last camping trip I went to it rained and was miserable. I would rather reschedule than chance it.

Is there a date we have to cancel by to get a full refund?

Rain - Schmain.
Camping is about getting back to nature. If it's a little cloudy, cool and wet then, for Texas as you well know, that's a benefit to be taken advantage of.
Sure, maybe it's a little wet to go running around naked, but then no one want's to see you guys naked. And when you fall down all drunk an such the ground will be softer than "normal."
Just bring some clothes-line and I'll bring a tarp I have, tie it off to some of the trees for shelter from the rain.

And for Future Camping, I'd buy this in a minute if I had the $1200. Track Day Hauler

There is a $10 fee for changing or canceling a reservation.

I don't know what you all are taking about it being miserable when it rained. Other then having wet seats in the mornings I had a good time, we got lucky and it only rained at night.

Look @ it this way...if postponed,
1)The lake levels might be up
2)Mike's boat might be ready
3)It might not be rainin...

They've dropped the rain chance to 30% on Friday and 40% on Sat & Sun, I say we play it by ear. This is Texas, you all know very well that it'll either be 0% or 100% by the weekend. :-)

NO LEATHERS ALLOWED if this degenerates down to lard wrestling. :-) I'm in either way ... but then again, *I* wasn't going to camp out! :D
