Aug. 11th and 12th and then we're doing the dragon the week after. So total time out of state will most likely be Aug. 10th through the 17th.

Good news for The Dragon
TRUCKS ON THE DRAGON North Carolina has done what Tennessee won't do ...... ban trucks heading to the DRAGON. It is now illegal for trucks longer than 30 feet to operate on US 129 anywhere from US 19/74 all the way to the NC/TN State Line. They are also banned on NC 28 from NC 143 all the way to US 129. Also on the ban list is the entire Cherohala Skyway in North Carolina.

New signage in North Carolina:

Image

Want to hear what Tennessee says about banning trucks?

The commissioner (John C. Schroer) added that TDOT provides enhanced safety advisories in regards to potentially dangerous roadways and that it is the responsibility of motorists to exercise a greater amount of caution when traveling winding mountain roads.

So in Tennessee the signs warning trucks are actually aimed at other motorists telling them to DODGE THE TRUCKS THAT WILL BE IN YOUR LANE !!! Leave it to Tennessee to even make such ridiculous statements. The commissioner ought to be FIRED !!!

How about just banning the TRUCKS like North Carolina !!!! Now it is technically illegal for trucks to cross the Dragon and enter North Carolina. But they can legally turn around at the state line and return northward back across the Dragon as long as they stay in Tennessee. Great thinking Tennessee.

Barber report:

Friday it freakin POURED on us on the drive in just as we hit Tuscaloosa and rained all the way through Birmingham. Finally let up then just as we pulling into Barber it started pouring AGAIN. So we went and checked in at the hotel and it quit raining. Decided to go get dinner and then setup at Barber. Again, just as we pull into Barber it started pouring again. (

Saturday was good day though. A bit annoying in that there were several people that it was their first time at Baber so there was a pretty wide range of riding paces and there were some really slow people out there. :( Outside of that it was a good day. Had a few go downs but nothing to serious, and no one we knew.

Sunday was a better day. Things just clicked for everyone it seemed and the whole group was running good. Will and I both ran all the sessions.

We also went out at lunch and found the giant ants with the coke, motorcycle, and rider. There is some new art work at the track. Will took a photo, he'll have to get it uploaded later.

Did a short ride and then up and down the dragon yesterday. Was pretty good but sore as hell still from the track. Today was a little better but still pretty sore and legs get tired quickly. We ran down 28 and then over to wayan (spelling) road. We also found 711 this year and tried it out. AMAZING road...for the first 5 miles. After that it turns to shit. Someone in the group thought the sign said 2 miles so we decided to tuff it out, 5 miles in and it wasn't getting any better. Turned out to be about 9 miles of crap! Other then that, it was a good day.
