30 Minute sessions on the 1.3. I like the idea but my body might have something to say about it.

Yeah, 30-min sessions on the 1.7 are strenuous -- I could not imagine to attempt the same on the 1.3.

I guess I need to get out today and/or tomorrow and ride. I think that I have ridden about 5 street miles since the last track day.

Re: Nov. 18 MSR - 1.3 Role Call
THAT WAS AWESOME! I do not know if it was just because it was my second track day and everything was coming together or if that track is just awesome but I had a blast. I think it might be in part because of my better understanding of throttle timing for the roll on (thanks to the Scottish fellow). I don't know. It was amazing. The Xs were coming so much more naturally. Great event. It was pretty chilly on the way out and I was cursing myself this morning but once it warmed up and I was out on the track I was terribly pleased to be there. Thanks to 2track for giving me someone to pit with and helping to make me look like I belonged there. I feel cooler when I am pitting with the dudes with the track bikes. Of course he sacrificed a couple of his own cool points in doing so.

Re: Nov. 18 MSR - 1.3 Role Call
First track day is pretty much just burned on anticipation, anxiety, excitement etc. By your second track day your calm enough to start soaking stuff up because the anxiety of not know what really to expect is gone.
At least that was my experience.

Re: Nov. 18 MSR - 1.3 Role Call
ya know i still get really nervous the first second third maybe even forth session i go out on. The first session is so bad i feel like i want to puke, but as soon as i hit the gas and get on the track it all "switches" and i then become in a different state of mind. A very clear calm thinking state that's a high focus and i love it lol. I've always been like that on things like this and i come to expect and love it.

Re: Nov. 18 MSR - 1.3 Role Call
Had a great time @ the track. It was very challenging to learn gp shift on that track but toward the end of the day I was getting allot better at it. The biggest problem I was having with it was when you have to react. I would automatically hit it standard shift even If I was telling myself over & over. Proly not the best track to learn it on but I wanted to make the switch. Glad you had a great time Stardog84 it was cool hanging out with ya. Got to meet mracr too yesterday had a great time hanging out & talking with him. It was nice seeing ya out there Ed @ least it was a fairly comfortable day to work there. & to the FWMR crowd that showed you all were there & then gone. Hope you all had a good ride yesterday.

Re: Nov. 18 MSR - 1.3 Role Call
I GPd my 919 when I had roughly 1,500 miles of riding experience. I now know that it was my fix for taking corners with my feet in the wrong position. Now riding a standard shift pattern is... interesting.

Re: Nov. 18 MSR - 1.3 Role Call
I love my GP shift... I never get confused anymore but then that might be because I dont go back and forth..... and maybe that I ride almost every day. In any case just change all your bikes to GP shift and you will be right at home with it.

Re: Nov. 18 MSR - 1.3 Role Call
GP Shift is wrong. It's the inverse of "natural". Shift UP to go faster - an up-shift. Shift down to slow, a down-shift.

Re: Nov. 18 MSR - 1.3 Role Call
Up=higher rev
Down=lower rev
If you write numbers in a column you would start with 1 at the top and go down.... works the same. All of this stuff plus when using a quickshifter or even just clutchless shifting it is much easier to have more force on the shifter when to the next gear.
Also if you want to talk about what is not natural how about a 3 cylinder engine! THAT IS NOT NATURAL!

Re: Nov. 18 MSR - 1.3 Role Call
So for you guys with GP shift, please make sure you put "GP SHIFT" stickers on your bikes when you do track days. It helps the poor corner workers out.
Especially you guys with bikes that will only start in 1st or neutral. I had a guy on the track one day, I think it was with a GSXR but it might have been a Yamaha, who crashed. His bike was rideable, but we thought it wouldn't start because it wouldn't go into neutral. Turns out the guy that crashed wasn't thinking 100% straight, and I didn't realize he had a GP shift. I was trying to find neutral between 5th and 6th instead of between 1st and 2nd.
I don't care if it's painter's tape and sharpie, just put *something* on there in case somebody besides you is trying to troubleshoot your bike.
