Pinball Festival

Post by DarcShadow » Thu Jan 22, 2015 10:01 am

It's not motorcycle related but it is a pretty neat event. Miles and I plan to go, probably Saturday, but possibly Friday, anyone else interested in joining us.

The 2015 Texas Pinball Festival returns on the weekend of March 27th-29th at the Embassy Suites Dallas -Frisco/Hotel, Convention Center & Spa
  • This show draws people from all over the United States and beyond. It is the largest show in the industry and we want you to experience it first hand.
  • Over 400 vintage and new pinball machines & classic arcade are scheduled to be set on free play.
  • Enjoy a variety of adult and kid pinball tournaments throughout the weekend to test player’s pinball skills against others for trophies and prizes.
  • Vendors selling parts, supplies, equipment and memorabilia all weekend.
  • There will be a presentation by well known pinball artist and designers on Friday/Saturday followed by signing autographs and answering questions from the audience.
  • A pinball auction will be held Saturday afternoon.
  • Door Prizes for pinball related memorabilia drawn throughout the weekend, including a grand prize raffle drawing Sunday awarding a just released full size Pinball Machine to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.

One Day Pass Prices (at the door):
Adult/Child
$25/$15 - Friday: 5pm-1am
$35/$25 - Saturday: 10am-1:00am.
$20/$10. - Sunday: 9am-2:30pm.

Weekend passes at the door are $60 for adults and $35 for children ages 5-12. Children under 5 get in free.

Wait, this is in March.. are you sure Miles is going? He never plans this far in advance.

I'd be down for going. Could be fun.

It's pretty cool, some classics machines, new not even on sale machine, and some totally weird where did that come from machines. There was giant one there the last two years that used a cue ball.

Later on this week i will give you a list machines you MUST play. Of course you can play them all and as much as you want, but this will be a highlight of some of the finer points of pintball.

There are only about 3 of the pie runs this year that don't require an overnight stay. And I'm trying to work out doing BOTH. :))

So keep in mind the list they have is no where complete. Listed below are a few off the top of my head that you have to play!

Twilight Zone 1993 -Bally
Theatre of Magic 1996 -Bally
The wizard of OZ 2013 -Jersey Jack Pinball
The Hobbit 2014 -Jersey Jack Pinball
Creature from the Black Lagoon 1992 -Bally
Attack from Mars 1995 -Bally
Medieval Madness 2014(remake) -PPS(remake)
Phantom of the Opera 1990 -Data East
Tales from the Crypt 1996 -Williams
Bride of Pinbot 1991 -Willams
Iron Man/pick wich edition 2010 -Stern
Revenge from Mars 1999 -Bally
Monster Bash 1998 -Williams
RollerCoaster Tycoon 2002 -Stern
Addams Family 1992 -Bally
Cirqus Voltaire 1997- Bally
Tales of Arabian NIght 1993 -Data East
Xmen/choose edition 2012 -Stern

None of those are in order, but if i had to pick a top three. Twilight Zone, Theater of Magic, The wizard of oz

Some highlights: Twilight Zone has an electric field, Theather of magic can levitate balls, Wizard of oz & Hobbit(both the latest of the new style pins)

I use to own Phantom, which i believe to be the best artwork of any machine & talked with the artist several times, he should be there this year. Bride of pinbot is another one i've owned, which comes in a series of three.

I know i'm forgetting a TON! Each machine has it's own speciality or style of game play that you might not know about.
