MSR 1.3 3/8/2015

Post by DarcShadow » Wed Feb 11, 2015 11:41 am

Anyone else going to join me on the 1.3? It really is a fun little track, great for smaller bikes.

I need to dust off the 250 and get it running, no way I'm running the ape on there

Yes, L2, with Shaun giving personal instruction all day long. I should be a better rider at the end of the day, but at the very least I hope to develop a really cool accent.

I am thinking I might go ahead an register and ride the bike with the current suspension setup. Might not be perfect but should be a bunch better than stock either way.

Cool, if it's too crazy you can always have it adjusted to some degree at the track.

I plan on hopefully having a place staked out on Saturday night if possible, or very early Sunday. You'll easily recognize me as the cool kid with the new DS-provided FWMR decals on the trailer. It should be where the crowd is gathered "oohing and aahing". 8)

DD, just for the record, if you can't get it set to suit you, don't forget I'm available to test it. :D

That's okay, I think spots are available on 3/9, that should give you time.

I have a follow up tomorrow to see how much gap is still left in my neck, until it gets solid it's just too much risk. Life as a quad doesn't sound appealing to me.

Treat that as a shake down of the bike: get to know her, make sure everything functions as it should, and focus on what you need to do to make that bike comfortable for you. Roger should be there, so let him adjust the suspension as much as that is possible. Plan on yanking the suspension right after, and sending it off to get it properly sprung and serviced. What kind of tires are on it? Do you need warmers? If they are race tires and you plan on running them without warmers, be mindful that the 1.3 is one of the slickest tracks in Texas when it is cold.

Ready!

Except I couldn't get a frame bolt busted loose to install the T-Rex sliders. :((

Needed a cheater bar, or 1/2" drive. Hope to get that done before the track, but who knows. HOPEFULLY they aren't needed if I don't.

Anyone notice I actually WASHED the poor thing?

Lonestar I've got a 1/2" cheater bar. What size socket do you need?

12MM, but I can get what I need at work, thanks. I ran out of time, I saved those for last, then had open house with the granddaughters or I'd have come out here an got what I needed. Thanks.

:icon_whs0be: When green, the 1.3 is probably the slickest track in Texas (even worse than the 1.7), so focus on learning the line in the morning. If the cloud cover breaks, then the track will definitely come in at some point.

I told Fixxer it looked like boobs (he said "in a bikini?"). I agree...they look like boobs in a bikini! We hang out too much. :SideSplittingLaughter:
