Got an extra wheel for almost free

Post by Polokid69 » Wed Jun 03, 2015 7:34 pm

Got an extra front wheel from a guy I met on FB for almost free. Traded him an extra set of flush mount signals .
Looks like from ZX6, almost identical to mine but has larger discs . thinking about having it powder coated. Any ideas how much this costs and if bigger disc on it will work on mineImage

Power coasting it will cost $125. You have to pull everything off and the bearings. Then you will need new bearings. You would need something made to accept a bigger disk. You could research it though, sometimes there is parts from other bikes that you can upgrade.

OK,thanks for the info Miles. I'm not ready to do it yet but I couldn't turn down the deal for free. That has some of the biggest disks I ever seen! Not sure the bigger disks would even benefit me since I don't use the front break much .

WHAT? You need to get out of that habit, nearly 80% of a sport bikes stopping power comes from the front brakes. Ideally you should use both brakes but if you're going to use just one, it should be the front (except for in rare cases, ie in the grass, ice, slick roads, etc).

Good advice, I do use the front brakes just don't use my brakes a lot, mostly use shifting down to slow down

I wasn't going to say anything out of respect, but I did cringe. I thought maybe it was a joke. :HeadScratch:

This helps explain a lot, "we don't need no stinkin' brakes" is my motto...until I DO need them. :)

Then again, maybe Polo simply has skilz the rest of us can only dream about. Yep, that's got to be it. :-)
