Legit Mechanic - Carburetors
Anyone have any familiarity with any carburetor mechanics in the DFW area?
The Kawasaki which I thought I had dialed in about 6 weeks ago decided to run like shit again today and start leaking gas out of the #1 carb after I put it all back together. Not a good position for having to move here shortly.
So now I've decided to cut my losses and let the pro's work on it to remove one less headache for the next several weeks.
Anyone have any good recommendations for a mechanic who can work on a carburetored bike? My first thought was North Texas Superbikes, but I don't know how good they are at working with Carb's.... or Concours....
Appreciate the help!

LOL WUT, why did i text you today?! If it's leaking out the drain spout just tap on it a good bit and see if it stops. Make sure your floats are set to the right height. Just sounds like it isn't clean enough and the folat is getting stuck

Dude. I said I had the tools.....not the skills!
Just need this wrapped without drama. If I had the time and didn't have a newborn on the way and a move to make, I'd be all over it. Just no time and can't have some leaking stinking bike loaded in with my couch.....

It might be a little farther than you want to travel but they are good.

They fixed up the 82 CB750K for me back in the day and did a good job with the carbs. I would say Shaun is the guy for ya but I think I remember him saying he hates carbs. Might wanna call him though.

Re: Legit Mechanic - Carburetors
What I hate about carb'd bikes is that they can get gummed up in a matter of weeks if you don't run them. At least that's what I've been told. My old 250 Ninja was carb'd and it was a cold blooded beast.

Re: Legit Mechanic - Carburetors
I can attest to it first hand. In the early days my 1990 CBR1000F NEVER had this problem, but as the gas was diluted more and more, it got worse and worse. I've had instanced where it was literally starting to gum up at 2-3 weeks. Small idle jets is the culprit on that bike. That is the current condition in fact. Pisses you off in a bad kinda way.nitzer wrote:What I hate about carb'd bikes is that they can get gummed up in a matter of weeks if you don't run them. At least that's what I've been told.

Re: Legit Mechanic - Carburetors
I had a 90 cbr, and a 2000 ZX-9R, both carb and never had any issues for the 3 years I had them. Guess I got lucky.

Re: Legit Mechanic - Carburetors
Carbs aren't so bad. Just have to keep them clean, which means chaining the fuel filter often and using up all the gas when you park the. For awhile.
