Ethanol Free gasoline

Post by shilka99 » Fri Oct 21, 2016 7:41 pm

I dont know about anyone else, but I'm sick of having to worry about ethanol gumming up the carbs on my dirtbikes and race bikes that often sit for months at a time. On NPR today someone mentioned http://www.pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=TX

I'll be checking this out

Funny enough I've looked into this a lot. Texas has something that limits selling here in certain areas. I was up in Oklahoma about a month ago and they are everywhere, but expect to pay at least 25cents more. I'd love to run it in my bike.

If you really want to be picky you can always buy it in small cans at Home Depot. I use in on my lawn equipment

You can also buy it at nearly any small airport. Called AVGAS. Not 100LL.

Also, I don't know if it is still this way but most marinas would sell it as well.

Sure, it's not right around the corner for most of you, but Weatherford isn't that far away.

It's 32 miles, one way, to Weatherford for me. Not worth it.

Until you find a source for Eth-free gas, can't you just run the carbs almost dry by turning off the petcock and letting it run 'til it starves out?
That method seems to be working on my DR, as it sits much longer than it deserves to.

I do this every time, but sometimes I forget. Then I go to start the dirtbike/quad/chainsaw/RC30 and realise ... &^!)@(#*$&
then I have to strip the carb/s again. I'm considering getting race gas delivered
