'17 RSV4 first impressions

Post by fixxervi6 » Sun Sep 03, 2017 4:02 pm

When I say first impressions, I mean just that I have less than 100 miles on her with 0 track days

The good:
Power delivery is quite smooth with increased low end grunt over the '14 - the '17's got higher HP numbers and the butt dyno can feel the extra ponies
For high rev downshifts the blipper sounds awesome, you can do "on the gas" downshifts as well. I have my doubts that the blipper can shift better than I can but we'll see at the track.
Cruise control, nuff said, and it works great
Slightly different geometry - and I do mean slight but first impression is it's more comfy
I can adjust my TC settings for launch/brakes etc on the fly with a joystick vs going through menus, TC level adjustment is same as '14
Ride modes are not just throttle response modes anymore they change additional things like the amount of engine braking
Wheelie control works great
Gear box feels better
QS is butter smooth, better than the '14
Mid range throttle roll on gives a very nice V4 engine note with stock exhaust, that V4 growl
The dash is very very nice
It makes panties drop

The bad:
I like the sound of the '14 better on the low end
At stop lights it belches heat like a nuclear reactor and something about this year cooks your right hand - within a few seconds it feels like my right hand is in an oven
Still feel like I'm "head down" the seat height tilts you forward which would be fine but it's an aggressive position for a stiff neck fellow
Leg room - the most cramped of any sport bike I've ever ridden
The blipper for standard around town riding is meh
Joy stick is hard to control with gloves on
Wheelie control works great
You don't get that explode "boom roar" engine start that the '14 gives you
You gotta stand on the rear brake (maybe needs break in?)
Pitt limiter, I put it as a negative because there is a big ass worthless button taking up space
Turn signal button is damn near impossible to feel with gloves on

This tells me that no one dropped their panties then (except while you were dreaming).

You know I am correct and that is why you have not replied. That is fine...I will just speak with your wife about this.
