Post by manu1234 » Tue Feb 26, 2008 12:21 am

hey guys... which track do you guys preffer? 3.1 or 1.7? we're trying to put on some more events there... would love to get your input.

Hope some of you can make it out to the MSR C event on March 3rd. I know it's a monday.. unfortunately that's about the only days anyone can get into MSR. We have great instructors for for novice riders and excellent control riders for intermediate and advanced riders. check out the site.. www.texastrackdays.com

we provide breakfast and lunch for everyone.. and camping at the track is allowed..

we ran our first event at MSR Houston this past weekend. we had a great event.. you can read some of the reviews here.

As far as which track is preferred, I like the 1.7 both ways fram a racer stand point. It actually has times recorded on it which would allow one to hone their skills a little better before race time. If their is a track day schduled in-between race dates I like the 3.1 mile. Hope this helps.

I prefer the 3.1 mile. I find the new section to be far more fun and entertianing then the old section, especially the bit through the hairpin, up the hill and through the long righthander. I've never ridden the old section CW, though, so I'll try to make it out there for that one...

The 1.7 mile section is a bit more stable. From a racing standpoint, CMRA isn't racing Cresson in the 3.1 mile configuration, and I'm out there to get practice.

Also, there's a few places on the new section that need to be fixed (broken pavement seams), especially the broken pavement on that uphill hairpin.

I like the layout of the new track but it hasn't come into true form yet. Run offs are still a bit hairy and there are some spots on the track that needs some work.

I'd love to try and run just the short track, the 1.3 mile track, some time.

You learned a valuable lesson for me, when your tires start talking to you, listen! :-)

I like the 1.7 CCW, but the 3.1 proved to be as much fun also. I think safety is a medium concern with the runoffs. If they fix those on the new section I think overall the 3.1 would be a more complete experience for somebody new, and for those of us with more experience it would help keep our skill sharp. Plus talking on what you get for the money the 3.1 is the way to go.
