what clutch kit?

Post by dshag » Sun Dec 28, 2008 10:08 pm

my friend has a 03 gsx 750 and it needs new clutch fibers because its slipping really bad under hard acceleration. Ive been doing research and just curious what he should get, the most common kit appears to be the barnett kevlar for his bike. 1 thing to add his bike only has like 6k miles on it which seems very early for a new clutch? also should he just get a whole kit? springs and plates?

I have 32k on my clutch, wet type. 01 Triumph 955cc. If he is popping wheelies a lot, that'll waste a clutch fast.

6K does seem a bit low but depending on how he rides I have heard of clutches going out that early. Back when I was learning wheelies I had my clutch go out at around 10K.

Ok, 9K isn't too bad. Expecially for high end sport bikes. If you take it easy you should be able to get 15 to 20K but who takes it easy on a sport bike? Ha!

I don't have any oppion on clutch hardware though. The 2 times I've replaced them I just took it to the shop and they did it with OEM stuff, I think.

Clutches are easy to replace.
The meaning of life is good sex and a fast motorcycle. I would combine the two, but I would end up wheelie-ing the girl and spooging on my bike.
