Re: MSRC in May Role Call
Well sports fans, here it is.
The guys who were at the track yesterday know what happened, I was T-Boned at the hairpin. By a club member... !
Most important thing - no hard feelings. I've been doing this long enough to know that accidents happen. I've made mistakes myself and I expect no one to be perfect.
Secondly, the damage was minimal. The tail section was snapped off below the passenger seat cover, the subframe is bent, and my boot/leathers received minor damage. If I hadn't been wearing good gear the injuries would have been much worse than just bruising on my shin and ankle. My neck still hurts, which I dont quite understand.
The good part - I didn't go down. That would have pissed me off as I haven't crashed on asphalt since 1993, even after hundreds of track days.
Another good part, the whole thing was filmed by several GoPro's. I had mine on and it caught a front wheel an instant before it hit me.
The student I was working with also had one. She was behind me and caught the whole thing: (Skip to 6:20 for the exciting part)
So its really not a big deal. Damage is minor and easy to fix, T-Bone'er already offered to pay for damages done to T-Bone'ee.
Let all learn from this and make the next track day safer and more fun.
Shaun.

So glad no one got hurt. Hate seeing anyone go down, especially one of our own, or in this case, two of our own.

Damn he came flying in there. I know everyone was slowing down for the turn so that made him look even faster, but that look really really fast.

There's a cool shot of striple, fixxer, and me rolling onto the track together:

His face looks tiny inside that helmit.
There's a bunch of trouble makers. And no, Dave, that does not count as your 4th Meatball ride.

Re: MSRC in May Role Call
Was Hart himself out there Saturday? It was some other guy for us on Sunday, and after looking through the photos, I can kind of tell. Good shots, but just not quite at the same level as Blare does.
I also think I've figured out why I'm never touching knee anymore. Most of the photos I have pretty good form, I'm off the bike an everything, I just don't have me knee swung way out, looks like I keeping it just a bit closer then others, but not so close as to be wrong. That makes me feel a little better, I was wondering if I had screwed up my form some how cause I'm rarely draggin knee any more. I think I may of actually improved my form, and I'm not hanging completely off the side of the bike like I have done at times in the past.

Whoa! Glad nobody was seriously hurt in that round of bumper bikes. Was that a certain rhino-coated 250?

Re: MSRC in May Role Call
Yes, that probably was a certain rhino coated 250. I am going to put together a short article for RideSmart Dave as to the full story of what lead to that event (to which I am NOT proud of). This is something that Dave will be able to use as a testimonial of what NOT to do at a track day. I will share when it is put together.

MoS, I'm proud of you man. While the crash was certainly nothing to be proud of, you've handled it well and it's cool that you're willing to offer it up as a teaching tool.
