I've done plenty of hot summer track days. It will likely be in the mid 90 / upper 90's, but it doesn't hit that until after 1-2pm. I'm usually done by 3pm anyways, so no biggie. As long as you drink plenty of water and gatorade you're ok. I'd rather do a hot track day than a cold track day. Mmmm... sticky tires....

I went ahead and signed up for Saturday, level 1.
I'm excited to get back on the 1.7 and finally see how I do when I'm riding a track I've been on once instead of having to spend all morning learning the track.
I may sign up for corner working on Sunday if they have spots open, haven't decided yet. At the rate I'm doing track days, I probably need to start working the corner to pay for them.

Yup, need to do what marathon runners do. They call it cell loading. You start 24 to 48 hours prior. And if I remember correctly it's 4ounces of water every hour, that the body can process and retain water in your cells. Anything more than that, and your just pissing it away. Then you continue hydrating during your heavy physical activity, and the body uses what your taking in, and then pulls from the cells for anything more that is needed.Grinner wrote:As far as hydrating, make sure you start the hydration process the day before
And always remember. If your not sweating, or pissing at a trackday, your already behind on hydration and there is no catching up. You might as well sit the rest of the day out, and try to get rehydrated.

Good info will, i'm going to look more into this. I also know it has to do with your electrolites. So i think its like half gatoraide, half water...something along those linesWillK675 wrote:Yup, need to do what marathon runners do. They call it cell loading. You start 24 to 48 hours prior. The loading deal I think is just water. The staying hydrated they say half water, half gatorade; and thats because of the sugars and stuff in gatorade, you can't rely just on it, you need water also.

I been told two bottles of water to every one bottle gatorade. Other wise you take in too many electrolites, and the symptoms are very similar to dehydration/heat stroke.WillK675 wrote:The loading deal I think is just water. I am shooting to make this. I need to purchase and install sliders and pay the bike off. It's gonna be tight, but I think I can swing it.

Heck, now I'm going to have to decide if I want to run at ECR again. It's only 2 weeks before Barber, so it's kind of iffy. If I crash, I'll be fresh out of bikes for Barber.
I may hit you up for a credit in October.

I thought about it, but I was pretty worn out after doing both days last time, and that was only riding until lunch on Sunday. My body position was horrible while fighting sore muscles. I think for now I learn more just doing one day at a time.DarcShadow wrote:Anyone thinking about doing the 1.3 on Sunday? I'd rather not be the only one out there.

I wouldn't waste money on sliders. They really only help if the bike falls over at a stop.NickS wrote:I am shooting to make this. I need to purchase and install sliders and pay the bike off. It's gonna be tight, but I think I can swing it.

They help more with naked bikes. Nick's Z1000 wouldn't be sliding on plastics in a crash, it would be sliding on engine components.dufremle wrote:I wouldn't waste money on sliders. Re: MSR Cresson July 16th Track Day, OMFG Firewa11's Back Ba
Yeah, there's a bit of a debate if frame sliders are worth it for track use. If the bike goes down and stays on the track, they do an ok job. But if the bike goes off the track the sliders have a tendance to dig into the grass and cause the bike to flip causing more damage. Granted a naked bike has plenty of stuff to catch and dig in so either way you're pretty much hosed. Best bet...just don't go down.

I certainly appreciate theory, but in the case of crash protectors - be that frame sliders or engine case sliders - my approach is to protect the bike as much as possible (without compromising performance).
My lowside at Cresson last month would certainly have been significantly worse for the bike, hadn't it been for the frame sliders!

I'm not so sure, you got a pretty good layer of protective mud built up over, well, everything.Striple wrote:My lowside at Cresson last month would certainly have been significantly worse for the bike, hadn't it been for the frame sliders!

Even with impact on dirt, without sliders the radiator would have toast, along with a few other expensive components. It definitely would have been a far cry from the $130 bucks it cost me to get the bike back to pre-crash condition.Dave wrote:I'm not so sure, you got a pretty good layer of protective mud built up over, well, everything.

My main problem with them is, depending on how they mount, they can cause more damage than not having them. If you get them make sure they do not mount to the engine or to an engine mount.

What about these?
http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/pr ... /5525/805/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I like that they have 2 mounting points, and they look like they would give in an impact, rather than transferring shock straight to the frame. Crazy?
