Car & Bike drive/ride - July 24th

Post by DarcShadow » Thu Jun 30, 2011 3:31 pm

I've been requested to lead a car/bike ride so if you know anyone with a vehicle that can keep up let them know. The event will be July 24th, we'll leave from sonic, not sure on the time yet. Will kind of depend on the temp forcast. Since I'll be in a car with AC I really don't care what time we leave so as the day gets closer I'll take a poll of the riders planning on going.

Last time we did this we had 3 vettes, a mustang, and the viper and 8 or so bikes.
This time, we will likely have 2 vipers, possibly 3, at least one vette and how every many of you show up on bikes.

I'm going to classify the ride as intermediate, more out of the complexity of keeping a group of cars and bikes together safely. I expect speeds will be more in the quick moderate pace with some short fast burst sprinkled about.

If Melissa doesn't go she can ride with me. As the date gets closer we can check with Mike and see if Amy is going or if he'll have an open seat as well.

As the good lord says, it is better to cleave to the topic at hand than risk the wrath of the moderator who faceth boredom at work. :)

This is going to be the day after I move, so it'll be a game-time decision whether I want to unpack or just run away from the boxes.

Run away. Unpack as you need stuff, if you still have crap in a box after a year, toss it.

This may be one of the rare chances I get to do something with the group. It depends on what time and my wife's travel plans. Do you think I could hang? My bike can do 80 easy up to 100+mph, and I've tolerated up to 1.5 hrs of droning before.

It's funny, it's like fixxer and telomere left all the blinds in the house open and all the lights on, but on the internet.

Fero-X wrote: :SideSplittingLaughter: That's funny... your Versys has like 10 mph on me. I'm impressed. I can do 100+ just before red line because my bike is well maintained and I don't weigh 300 lbs. Dont believe me- IT DOESNT MATTER. As for the ride Fixxer, I wasn't asking you specifically.
Hey Buddy relax a little bit, it was my wife that posed the how do you go 100+ question, a serious question. She is on a 250r and pushed its speed up to the thottle stop, and last I checked she was quite a ways away from 300lbs on a well maintained bike. Not saying you simply can't do it or we don't believe you, but if you can seriously do 100+ on it, how are you doing it, cause we would like to know so we can do that.

In terms of being able to hang thats not an issue, anyone can "hang" in this club as its a no rider left behind policy, no one is going to take off and just leave you. The issue is safety not speed, there are guys in this club that can/have passed liter bikes on 250's.

Taken from the guidlines on this site:
Each rider must be familiar with FWMR group riding before going on these rides. Because of this, we ask that you participate in a Moderate ride or two with the club before joining us on an Intermediate ride.

I was just trying to be helpful by also extending the possibility of going for a spin in this area as I see you are not far from me. If your schedules are such that it is difficult for you to make some rides that doesn't mean you can't get to know some people on here and PM people to go for rides.

If I offend you and you don't want to run around here with me thats fine I'm cool wtih that, but you need to relax a bit and take the time to get to know people. As for catching hell you should see some of the other threads, people are doing so in the nature of good fun so again, relax. I would recommend having a woodchuck and kicking back, the summer blend is great this year.

I never posted a time, so here it is. We'll be leaving sonic at 8:00.

And in case you're wondering, I'll lead the rice/cars and I'll get another ride leader to lead the bikes behind the cars at a "safe" distance.

I'll call it a moderate ride, but I expect the pace will be a bit more spirited in sections. As always though, just ride your own ride and you'll be fine.

Unfortunately I dont think I will make this. I already have to call in sick on the 23rd. Maybe next drag night ...(which is soon to come) we can get DS to bring the viper out! Maybe Bird also! that would be great.

I think Fixxer might be joining you. I definitely won't be joining you guys. Fixxer is busy at work but I do recall him saying he was going to try to make this one.
