Re: Offical Scavenger Hunt 7/18
So I did some quick Google Maps work, checking distances from Ft. Worth.
Prado Verde, TX is the furthest challenge at 622 miles
South Point, TX is the next furthest at 545 miles
Everything else can be reached within about 300 miles (it's 312 to Galveston to get the gulf/beach pics).
I don't know if any of the rest of you are nutty enough to attempt 600 mile days, but I'm going to try to set aside a couple weekends to knock out the two big daddy ones. There are a ton of challenges that can be done on the way south, but Prado Verde there's nothing out there, it's just a shit ton of slab there and back.

Set it up Dave, and let me know! I can do 600 in one day. And the South Point challenge makes a great Iron Butt day!!

Actually for South Point I'm planning on staying the night somewhere around there. It'll be much closer to 600 miles with some side-trips in Austin for photos.
Edit: And for Prado Verde, I'm seriously considering making it a 3-day and dropping in from New Mexico rather than just riding straight out there.

I can do 600 in a day if we keep the speeds above 100mph, I've been kicking around a long road trip again since mount scott.Blizzard_1708 wrote:Set it up Dave, and let me know! I can do 600 in one day. And the South Point challenge makes a great Iron Butt day!!

Re: Offical Scavenger Hunt 7/18
I know of quite a few items on the list up around that area. I am just too lazy to go get them. Actually, after I leave work, all I can think about it getting the eff home to the A/C because it is HOT out there (so hot that it looks like I was standing in a sprinkler....NASTY!!!!). One of these days, I will just suck it up and get a pic of those items.milesmiles wrote:better than i have, but i'm really not trying to do anything until i get the oil changed. Should be today!

Haha...sometimes I do. There are days that I am too damn tired to ride my bike at 4:45am. The temps are great that time of day but on the way home, they suck!!Dave wrote:Telomere, you ride to work?

I don't mind being nasty. What I do mind is if I am too tired to ride. I might fall asleep while riding, which is not so good as compared to falling asleep while caging itEl Diabro wrote:Telomere wrote:Haha...sometimes I do. Not that caging it and sleeping are good but I will not be as badly hurt as if I did that on my bike.
