Pilot Road 3 or bust. There is no finer touring tire.

You'll see my Versys soon, I think there's at least 6k on them right now and they don't look worn.

I got the Pures, so far the middle is wearing fast! if i try to do wheelies right away (i know most of you don't like them) it will brake loose! but fully air up are awesome in the corner they give you so much confidence on riding the edge of the tire!! love them for that! as far as commuting my friend runs the pilot roads, and he LOVES THEM!! he said is the best tire out there lol

I still stand behind the pilot roads. They have always ranked out tops when it comes to wet weather and long milage.

just remember, touring tires are not going to be as grippy as what your use to so if you try to get on it to hard they are going to slip and slide a bit and probably feel like you're riding on, how you say, ice marbles. :SideSplittingLaughter:

I know all about slip and slide from my 2CT's, thats why I'm afraid to try mich again.

I'd rather just burn my Q2's but I just got a new set on for the track, if I go to big bend then to georgetown my Q2's will be toast in 3 weeks with flat middle.

I have a rear wheel, I just need to find a front wheel then I'll have two sets of wheels, Q2's for normal rippin and runnin and a touring set for things like heading down south. The downside with having a touring set for heading down south, if I find a section of track like surface I won't be able to fully appreciate its offerings.

I had good luck with the Roadsmarts. They had good feel and suprising grip. Got about 6k miles out of them.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Shouldn't you be getting a min of 10K to 15K out of a touring tire and more typically in the 25K range? 6K is just a slightly hard sport tire, hell you can get close to 6K out of a good sport tire if you're just slabbing it.

Totally agree with DS.

10k+ is a touring tire
15k+ is a good touring tire
15k+ and sticks in rain and twisties (within reason) is a fantastic touring tire

My PR3s are on track to be fantastic.

Fixxer will probably think they're rubber-colored snot rockets or something. :D

Sport-touring tire, I like aggressive starts, I was a much bigger rider, and lots of two-up rides. And usually kept my air pressures lower (around 36 on the street instead of recommended 42+). As I am now, I could probably squeeze 8-10k out of them.

Sport tires by my experience on a rear tire have been 2-3k for sticky, track-style sport tires, 3-4k for less sticky track tires, and 5-6k for sport-touring tires. I guess that's just how I ride.

Well, you know how much I hate those mich tires, but right now I have a PR3 on the back, my Q2 was toast, took my extra set of wheels down to cycle gear and threw a PR3 on (was trying to get a tire on quick to enjoy the weather) but didn't make it in time. I'll get my main set ofwheels down to cycle werkz to get some more Q2's back on, I love those things, but I can't afford to keep replacing them when I go on long trips, thousands of slab miles kills them quick.

So set 1 will be PR3 for the long hauls, set 2 I'm sticking with Q2. When the time changes I'll be using them to run to austin and stuffs.

You'll be running the exact same tires as me then. The Versys is keeping PR3s, and the Triumph is getting Q2s. I hope the PR3s work as well for you as they have for me.

I have ~10k on a set of PR2's that are on the C14. I'd replace them with PR3's, but they got a ways to go yet.

I just switched from 021's to 023's. The 21 would have gone longer but after 10000 miles they got to slick even though they weren't close to the wear bars. The 023's a freaking awesome compared. The first day I had them on I went from Cleburne to Palo Pinto on hwy 4 and had so much more confidence. I only have about 500 miles on them so far so I can't comment on how they wear. I think for a sport touring tire they a awesome!!!

I was impressed with the PR3 today, but I did to some sliding, but considering the temps and all that good stuff I think the did well.

That said, i'm sticking to Q2's as my main tires :))

So i thought this is one of the best deals i've gotten and wanted to share. I bought a new Q2 for the rear. Tire + Mounting(off bike) + tax = $166.37 Took about 5-10mins. Excellent service and they even took me to look at the shop. Place is in argyle TX about 25-30min from ft worth.
