rev'it makes some good stuff, but for $799, no way in the world. Get a glowstick everyone talks about and save some money!

You may want to take a look at motryclegear.com as well. They just put some touring/winter/rain gear on sale. Check there closouts.

For instance, this one. Don't know how it compares to the one your looking at but the price is good...

I ride rain or shine to work everyday. I need something with Goretex to keep me dry.

I'll try to find you a link, a few of the club members wear them. They are a one piece that is made for all types of weather and keep you very warm. They call them a "glowstick" because they are bright yetllow, but i think you can get them in black

here is the link with a pic of one of our gayest members wearing it. I personally don't have one, but there are a few guys that speak highly of them, so i'll let them chime in. I just could see paying 800 for a jacket. For that price your starting to look at full track suits!!!! You can find something of the same quailty with everything you want for half the price. Let me know what you find and i'll keep my eye out for what you are looking for

The "glowstick" that a couple of memebers has is made by olympia. I just can't remember the name of the suit itself.

http://www.ascycles.com/detail.aspx?ID=44597" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; this is the suit. I understand if your not looking for a full suit, but i'm sure they have only the jacket. With the suit being only $400 i'm sure you can get a jacket much less. and olympia makes a great product

That suit is an over-suit. So you'd wear it over your work clothes, get to work, shed it, and everything is good.

Plus the legs unzip most of the way up, so they come off easily.

No way I'd pay $800 for a textile jacket.

For that price you can get an Aerostitch Roadcrafter suit.

I just bought leather winter gear for under $500.

Rev'It stuff is good, but that's way overpriced. It's like the Alpinestars $800 touring jacket. There's no way it can be worth that much.

Also, I have a glowstick and it's not good for commuting. Too much hassle to get on and off. Now for all-day touring in the winter, it's perfect.

I agree with you there. While I really like Alpinestars products, that much for a jacket is a bit absurd, when you can buy a really nice full racing suit for around that price. Unless it has built-in airconditioning and/or heating pads, it's really not worth it.

Actually, I thought about that too. You know the air conditioners that early astronauts carried with while going from the prep room to the launch pad and into the ship... Maybe find a way to adapt something similar into a bike. Then, I'd look at $800 for a riding jacket.. heh.

The thing about an $800 jacket is that it's not going to be twice as good as a $400 jacket. I'd pay $400 for a full-featured touring jacket.

You know honestly, if I was in the market for an $1440 jacket/pants combo, I'd just go ahead and buy an Aerostitch Transit setup. Yeah, it's $1600, but it's Gore-Tex leather. Tons better protection, still waterproof, good for commuting and touring, and it's leather.

I really want a Transit setup, and will probably buy one whenever I get done losing weight.
