FNG in Keller, 08 CBR1000rr

Post by Bewst » Mon Feb 13, 2012 11:10 pm

Hey everyone,

I just picked up an 08 CBR1000rr Candry Red completely stock with just over 1k miles on it. I am in love, I have never loved a bike or vehicle so much!!!

Dyno'd it the day I got it 152HP and 77ft lb tq completely stock, looks like a winner. Such a clean bike, looks and runs brand new. My step bro is a bike mechanic and I bought it from his store.

Haven't made up my mind yet on what all I'm going to do to it but I'm pretty sure full exhaust, power commander and undertail.

Here she is
http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc ... 0163_n.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Looking for people to ride with in the DFW, Texas area. Not new to bikes but I am new to this much power! Previous bikes... 74 Hodaka Road Toad, 04 KLR 650, 05 Buell XB9R Firebolt.

Should be checking out the forums pretty frequently. Hope to make some riding friends soon!

Later

Are you near A Bikers Garage? That's my step dads shop, my step brother works there and my other step brother works at Family Powersports in Hurst.

I'm not too far from that shop there in Roanoke. Been in there a couple of times to look for gear, they didn't have much on the sportbike side of things though, not sure if they've added any.

When they were opening they were going to have more sportbike and dirt bike stuff in there. Not sure why they didn't get that much stuff, they can get you anything though.

Time to ride home :-D

Later all

Welcome to the boards. Come on out to our next bike night, and meet everyone. Also, keep an eye out on the Rides section for any rides that may pop up.

So after doing some reading, apparently I'm a squid?? I wear a helmet and gloves, jeans and skate shoes. I might be getting a leather jacket. What all do you guys wear? In the summer I'll wear shorts and don't mind riding in a tshirt. I'm new to the whole sportbike community, help me out here, lol.

after more reading... I don't do any tricks, keep both tires on the ground at all times and am not a sruirrely rider. I also don't put other lives in danger. I guess it's just my clothing, lol.

Thanks

Yep, you're a squid! But that's ok, we can change that. No matter what ride(even around town) i have my helmet, jacket, gloves and LONG pants, shoes or boots. Doesn't matter what temp it is! If it's too hot to wear your gear then it's too hot to ride! Some people like mesh jackets that allow air in and that's better than nothing. Even on our slow rides in the dead of summer i usually wear full leathers with boots etc... This is something our group prides ourselves on.

P.s. I'm curious to hear about your buell, i've always wanted one!

Yeah, that's some squidly gear but good job not stunting and being dumb.

My street gear is boots, Kevlar-reinforced jeans, leather jacket, gauntlet gloves, and full-face helmet every time. In the summer the jacket is perforated and the gloves are non-insulated. In the winter the jacket is solid leather, the gloves are insulated, layers go under the jacket as necessary, and when it's really cold I'll wear overpants.

Track gear is a one-piece leather suit, different boots, same gloves, same helmet. Dirt gear is totally different, it's lots of impact armor and not much abrasion protection.

You should definitely gear up in good stuff. I've got a nice rash scar on my arm from when a textile jacket failed (it busted at a seam). My crash was from hitting a sand patch, just a momentary lapse of concentration on a normal Wednesday evening that landed me in the hospital. You really should gear up every time you ride.
