RS Flyers and posters

Post by DarcShadow » Wed May 02, 2012 9:29 am

As most of you know, Ride Smart gives us a half off discount code that we give away each month. Part of the deal for getting this code is to help promote RS anyway we can. One of the ways we've been asked to help is to hand out flyers/posters to local area shops. So if you're in a shop make a note as to weither or not they have some RS flyers. If they don't ask if they'd be willing to put some on their counter, and take them some next time you go by, or post up here and so someone else can swing by the shop with some flyers. If the shop is willing also leave some club cards with them.

The more attention we can bring to RS through FWMR the more RS will be willing to do for us in the future.

I handed out alot of flyers to people at the last bike night. Have any of you had a chance to drop them off at any shops and if so, what shops?

Ok, found the thread Miles was talking about, I'll make this one the sticky.

If you're ever at a shop that doesn't have flyers and you don't have any, make a note and take some to them next time or at least post up here so that another member can try to get by the shop with some flyers.

Shops we've dropped flyers off at
Swifty's - Will Dropped some off
Cycle Werkz - Will Dropped some off
Rising Phoenix Motorsports - Miles Dropped some off

Cycle Gear - Already had some - fixxer
Moto Liberty - Already had some - fixxer

I found another place... just took the MSF Military Sportbike Ridercourse on base. They told me to bring the stuff by and they would help spread the word. I think this is a great place because all military that rides a sportbike on base are required to take this class. I also handed out cards to the other 8 people in the class with me so they will hopefully join the forums and we can help them stay alive between deployments... lol. I just gotta get the stuff from ya to take to them is all.

They're not big, you can carry them in a back pack on the bike. You work across the runway from me, right? What time you come in or get off, I could probably just meet you in a parking lot.

This is no joke guys. The commandant of the Marines was quoted in cycle gear a while ago saying that more Marines die on sport bikes after they return home than actually die in combat. The more we can do to encourage them to get to the track means the safer they will be.

DD - which base did you do this course on?

I've heard this as well, the #1 killer of people coming back from deployment is currently, getting killed on a sport bike.

Yea I wasnt trying to make the LOL look like I was kidding. I am serious about that. To give you prospective to help understand why it is a huge problem think about this. A young 20 year old guy that spends all his money each paycheck (not that it is that much in the military) goes on deployment. During deployment he makes more money than any other time because of different modifiers for being in a "hot" area ect. He has no way to spend his money so it just builds in the bank. Six months to a year later he comes home and has 10 grand or more in the bank.... What better thing to spend that money on than a nice new sportbike. Then off he goes still bulletproof from deployment. Plus the people he hangs out with are very young and fearless as well so it just leads to the dark side in a bad way alot of time.

The base is JRB Carswell.

I work from midnight to 8am. I show up at around 1115 and leave around 815. We can give it a shot. I am off on Monday and Tuesday.

Has anyone been in a shop lately that didn't have any RS flyers? Or stopped by a shop where you've already dropped some off, did they still have plenty?

Stopped and dropped some flyers off at buyyourmotorcycle.com this morning.

Side note (aka :icon_offtopic: )

Guys up there were nice. They deal mostly in Harleys and cruisers, but do have an occasional sport bike, and they sell pretty quickly. With their new shop they are going to have a full maintenance shop as well. From talking to them, sounds like maintenance will be pretty cheap. $20 for mount, balance of tires, on bike (front & back). Plus they are going to be running some specials on tires, 20% off I think is what they said, with their grand opening coming up.
