At this point it looks like I'll be teaching/riding this weekend. Not sure what Level. First time back on the track in a while, and first time on my new (to me) bike.

I'm on as corner alternate I think, I need to find my e-mail.
I'm REALLY thinking about a veskimo. Yes, it's expensive, but part of the reason I tucker out and can't finish a full track day is the heat just sucks the life out of me, if a veskimo would keep my body temp down I'd be able to get more out of the day, hence, my track dollars go further.

Re: ECR Roll Call July 7-8
I just checked the schedule where we posted up earlier this year and it looks like Rhino, Striple and I are all CWing so that leaves 3 spots to 3 unknowns (not including Track Marshal). I hope one of those unknowns is camera person.

I don't think I can handle the heat, it saps my strength really quick and kills my focus, I've still got some northern blood in me (not to mention a nice insulation layer).
That's why I'm seriously considering a veskimo

Re: ECR Roll Call July 7-8
Yeah the heat is a problem, i'm use to it, but in my older age i've noticed that it has really started to hurt me. I've noticed that when i take staying hydrated seriously, it doesn't really hurt me as bad. If i don't want to drink water....i drink it. Everyone was making fun of me for having to come off the track to pee, but it kept me in the game. I hydrate the day before and then the day of i drink like it's the last time. If i'm not pissing after each session i know i'm becomming dehydrated. Also when i'm under the kool towel things arn't so bad.

Re: ECR Roll Call July 7-8
When I come off the track I can get cooled off and handle it, it's when I'm on the track and the bike is belching heat all over my legs.
Your also skinny compared to me, being fat makes a huge difference in the heat. I've lost 5lbs, 20 more to go, so maybe next summer I won't be such a lil bitch about the heat.

Re: ECR Roll Call July 7-8
I got a gym membership and working with a few people to rebuild my shoulder and focus on training that will help my riding. To be honest last year as far as heat goes, was really hard on me. I'm looking to beat it this year by bettering my health overall. Keep working on it, i like having y'all on the track with me!

I'm pretty sure that least year's summer was tough on everyone. Once we're in the triple digits, track days become tough on your body, I don't care what people claim. I can manage, but it still wears me down.

Re: ECR Roll Call July 7-8
oh no doubt! I'm just going to do my best to be prepared this year. Lol last time at ECR it wasn't even that hot, and i was DONE! I even tried to leave with my bike still all taped up with no mirrors or plates. Luckly telomere started yelling at me when i was riding off

Re: ECR Roll Call July 7-8
My biggest fear with heat is a crash.
When we were at cresson when it was hitting like 110 I almost literally fell off my bike, I was just wasted. Hard to maximize my dollar when it's that damn hot out.
I've seen one other veskimo out there on the track and the guy raved about it. It may look kind of cheesy but fuck it, if it allows me to get more track time in, and keeps me cool enough my focus is better, its a safety investment in my eyes.

Miles has it right. Hydration is key. When I don't hydrate properly, I feel like I'm gonna die in the heat. When I do hydrate properly, I can tolerate the heat just fine. I can even feel the difference when I'm teaching--as my hydration starts to slip, it feels hotter. As I catch back up, it doesn't feel so bad.
When I was camera bitch at MSRC this month I drank 6 liters of water, and I was mostly standing in the shade and it wasn't that hot. I figure that next time I'm riding, I'll need more like 9 liters since I'll be sweating so much more. If you're not drinking that much water, I suggest trying to properly hydrate before spending $500 on something that isn't going to help any more than dunking your cooling vest in ice water before going on the track.

I've never been able to handle the heat, even back when I was a 185lbs mountain biking machine made of wood I had more than one trip to the hospital, and I was pissing plenty of clear urin and I was still having to be cold packed and put on an IV.
When I wear my mesh and evap I can handle higher temps because the evap works with mesh. In leather I get like 3 laps in and I just cook.
