The range on the Scala's is pretty good, and you an chain them together to extend the range, so if the person in the middle of the group links to the guy in front, then then guy in the back and bridges the connection so all 3 can talk, you can get some range out of it.

So in theory, if they have a mile range and you have 8 of them, you could talk to a guy 8 miles away? Interesting.

I have the G4 and I love it. The range with the little antena up is probably a mile or maybe a little more..... as long as your not over hills and such. I am thinking of upgrading but like Fixxer said unless more people have it I have no need to get another one yet.

Rhino- yes the 3 piece one.... I even got the cool straps with the black widdow on them and all lol. I had to buy the longer one though because the short one was out of stock.

Nice, if you have a truck you'll loooove those ramps.

I only ever use two, the wide one and one skinny one. They fit behind the seat of a standard cab F150 (the skinny one lays flat on the bottom, the wide one stands on its side behind the seat), and you can run the bike up the wide one and walk up the skinny one. Bike goes in the truck under power, comes down turned off. I can load or unload a bike solo in about 5 minutes, which is super handy for taking them to the shop or the track.

I cant wait to have a chance to use them. I am hoping the wheel chock helps when I put it in the truck as well. Hold the bike up without the kickstand.

New purchase.... Attack rearsets being ordered today.

I actually prefer the kickstand. I typically carry my bike without a chock, mostly because I've been to lazy to bolt my chock into my truck with some kind of quick-release system.

I just roll it straight in and make sure the tires are in a groove in the bed, then put it on the kickstand. Then I just ratchet her down and let the straps hold her upright, kickstand still down in case the worst happens and she falls that direction.

One thing to watch when doing that, be sure to tighten up the right strap and get the bike upgright before tighting the left one. I once tightened things wrong some how and put a nice little dent in my truck bed from the kick stand.

I think you have that backward. You want the left strap tight enough that the bike can't fall away from the side stand. When I do it, I get the left strap on first and just a little loose, with the ratchet locked. I've found that as the bike straightens up from tightening the right strap it compresses the forks. If you get the left strap just right, as the bike gets all the way upright it is also all the way tightened down.

Right, but if you have the left strap too tight, as you tighten the right to stand it up it compresses the forks and if you're not paying attention will lower the whole bike and push the stand into the bed of the truck.

I put the left strap on, but very loose, then tighten the right standing the bike up, then walk around the bike while holding on to it to make sure it doesn't go anywhere and then tighten the left.

Well, I truck my bike a lot and I end up wedging the wheel in corner and then ratcheting the side stand side down slightly, then the other side until the suspension is compressed enough for my liking. Two straps hold it in there.

Oh, BTW this worked for the "new to me" silver SV650S sitting in my garage that I drove from Dallas to Houston to Austin to get. So that's my latest purchase... :D

Congrats on the purchase.....

Rhino I usually do exactly like you when putting the bike in the truck. I also do not intend on bolting the chock in. I figure with the rubber bottom to the chock and then strap the bike down that should keep it in place. I might use straps on the chock itself.... maybe. Anyway I am hoping it works like I have it in my head.

I had intended to show off my new machine at the next bike night but I'll be working for the next few, so here it is.
Image

Its a 2000 model Ducati 996 with 10,000 miles. It has some carbon additions, Ferracci pipes/chip, Ohlins shock and Ohlins valving in the fork.

When I looked at it prior to purchase it had a hard time starting which was attributed to a dead battery. After a little research though, I found this model is notorious for poor starter motor performance. I upgraded the power cables and the difference was amazing. The video shows the effects.
Image

In addition, I was able to get the seller to throw in a slipper clutch. I installed it then I added a vented cover to show off the addition:

Love that dry clutch rattle.

I'm surprised they don't come stock with a slipper, does it have a steering damper?

Should we start calling you tambourine man? :-)
