Yep, NRA does more to prevent our constitutional rights from being taken away than any other group IMHO.

Totally ridiculous thing to be news.

News flash - the UN isn't our government. They can do jack and shit to override our constitution. But you know, go go gadget gun nuts making us look like retards for blocking an international treaty that other countries might have cared about.

Well, they certainly make the most noise about non-issues in order to preserve their political power.

They yell and scream about the dumbest crap. "Oh no, they want to ban our 30-round clips, the sky is falling!"

No politician is going to repeal the 2nd Amendment. None. Ever.

But the NRA certainly likes telling politicians that they (the NRA) has the power to get them fired if they don't play ball.

Personally I'd love to see the NRA kicked to the curb, only because I would rather my politicians represent ME, not whoever has the most cash.

Typical anti-gun hogwash.

The NRA can't do shit about removing elected officials. I'ts the people who VOTE who do that. The NRA just tells the truth, unlike the mainstream media.

I'd be one of those people that would have a problem with putting a ban on 30-round "magazines" .

I personal want a M1A1 MBT, but our right to bear arms doesn't include equal-to-government firepower :-(

Is the mark 3 the one that finally includes reactive armor?

:SideSplittingLaughter:

So an NRA lobbyist is talking to a congressman, trying to get him to vote a certain way. What do you think he says?

He says "Vote this way, or we are going to tell the 'truth' to our members, and your ass is getting voted out next election."

See how that works?

Edit: And thinking that my dislike of the NRA = a dislike of guns is retardo-logic. I've got zero problems with guns. Hell, I taught Boy Scouts to shoot shotguns when I was younger. I just don't like giant lobbies. Even more important than my right to bear arms is my right to representation. Article 1 of the Constitution establishes Congress, the only direct representation I have in the government. It annoys me that my representatives are purchased nowadays.

Except the 'truth' is his voting record. Which politicians don't want you to know about but is public record. It's no different than any other lobbying organization. That is the way it works. It may not be the right way, but that's the way it is. The religious lobbyists are much more powerful than the NRA. So are the 'health care' lobbyists.

The anti-gun movement has much more money than the NRA. Can you say George Soros? The American people are tired of hearing that taking guns away from law-abiding people reduces crime. Look at Washington D.C., Chicago and New York for examples of how gun control works. Very few people are allowed to have guns there, but crime is skyrocketing. Same in the UK and Australia after they banned guns. Cun control doesn't reduce drime, and law abiding people don't run around shooting people. Criminals do.

Careful, that sounds like a good argument for no concealed carry. :D

Isn't the point of concealed carry so law abiding people can shoot first?

No. Concealed carry is so people don't freak out if they see you carrying a gun. Carrying a gun is so you can protect yourself from the criminals.

And don't be dilusional that this hasn't existed well before this country was even founded. Hell our founding fathers wore powdered white wigs just to show they were more wealthy and 'above' the common rabble. I can guarandamtee you that throughout the history of our country there has been corruption and greedy hands deep in the pockets of the wealthy that has shaped the direction this country has taken. You've got your head buried in the sand if you think for one minute dependence on fossil fuels wasn't shaped by the oil barons across this country (and others).

Just because you carry doesn't mean your going to freak out and kill people.

But it does mean you may forget and go to the airport.

:icon_whs0be: And Right to carry laws actually reduce crime. Gun related crimes in the State of Texas dropped sharply after the Concealed carry law passed.

I understand people who don't like guns and don't want them around, and freak out when they see someone with one. And I can respect that, and keep my firearms from your view. But the fact that you don't like firearms, doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to have them.

The same reason Isoroku Yamamoto said "You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass."

And I hate to say it, but I know it's true. The day Gun control, is instituted, and we (the citizens) lose our firearms will be the day other countries start planning their invasions.

Bzzt.

It's not to repel invaders, it's to keep our government honest. Remember the US was formed by a revolution, where we kicked out the existing rule and made out own. The reason the right to bear arms is #2 after free speech is because the US is based on the idea of rule by the people, for the people. We have the right to openly criticize the government, then back up that criticism with armed revolution if necessary.

It has nothing to do with being all billy badass and dreaming up ways to legally shoot criminals.
