I would do it as a one time thing but I also would need huge advance notice so I could get everything set up. I would also do less track days to make it happen that year I think.

For me, Barber is a guaranteed win for the investment and I love the layout and elevation changes.
As for cota...the fun to me looks to be in the newness but considering the size and layout I dont know that I will enjoy it as much as Barber considering my steed of choice. Remember, cota was primarily built for F1 which makes it a high speed track. For me that equates to boredom because I enjoy more of a technical work for it aspect. This would be why I REALLY enjoy cressons tracks (esp the 1.3).

The other part of this is....talk to me when you have ridden them and then your words on paper will have more valid meaning.

Think of it this way...Barber was built in 2003. Cota 2013. During 10 years a lot has changed, maybe not so much pavement/or new materials, but track layout, safety for sure better run offs and viewing for people. And yes motogp will be there! Geez people

There are several tracks that I have not done yet but would like to do. Barber would be one of them ... however. I would do COTA before Barber simply because MotoGP will be on it and as a one time thing. Barber would likely be a one time thing for me as well. I am sure it would be a blast but so is Cresson for a bunch less $$. This to me means I can do more track days in a year if I keep it the cheaper tracks like Cresson. If I get a few promotions or didn't have so many damn kids.... maybe it would be different.

I can't wait to get Lorenzos time @ Cota (or someone running a hot pace). Then compare my times on my 675 lol!!!

That just means it's bigger. Not saying it won't be cool to run, but I'd bet that for a track day event, Barber would still be the better track.

Just because MotoGP races there doesn't mean it's great. Between Laguna Seca and Barber, I'd choose to ride Barber again in an instant. I still think it's the best track I've ever been on.

That being said, COTA looks like a terrifically fun track. I would love to try hitting those esses at speed, and try to nail the 4-apex Turn 17 just right... seems like it would be a blast. $500 for a trackday is ridiculous, though. Even $400 is pretty crazy, thought that starts bringing it down to the point where it might be competitive with Barber for track fees + tow vehicle gas + time off from work. We paid what, $180 for Barber the first year? I would probably jump at the chance to ride COTA for $3xx, $4xx would be a hard sell. For $5xx/day I'll just go back to Barber and do two days for the price of one at COTA.

The cat's out the bag: Ridesmart is doing COTA on June 1st & 2nd for $460/day. They're running four groups (2 x intermediate).

Time to start counting nickels and dimes. If I remember. I said I would go up to $450.00 a day on the survey.

Good for Ridesmart for taking the chance on this. I am sure it will be a huge success :-D

Ouch, that's expensive. I'm sure a lot of that is track day rental costs / insurance cost requirements, but I'm also betting Dave is capitalizing on it. And I have no doubt he's gonna sell out too.

Yeah, it certainly would be awesome to ride that track, but that price puts it way down on my priority list for next season.

I tend to agree, not to say it won't ever happen though. For two days worth that would pay for me a new rear shock or a suit.

Something else to consider is supporting ridesmart. Since they've gotten burned from some track's not selling out I don't want them to get sketchy on trying new or new out of town tracks on the risk they may get burned again.

:icon_whs0be:

Miles and Striple's priorities a valid. Supporting Ridesmart I am assuming is a high priroty of FWMR? I filled out a survey put out by Ridesmart asking how much I would pay for a track day at COTA. I said I would pay $450.00 for 1 day. Now its time to step up for me and come up with $460.00 to ride on a track that is new and high tech and high end so on and so on. Here it is for me personally, I want to support FWMR which supports Ridesmart which teaches safe riding techniques. So to support Ridesmart I am going to save up some money and go have fun on Sunday. Give the experts and teachers Saturday to at least figure out some sort of line for the track to teach this novice how to ride fast and safe on an F1/Moto GP approved track.

I also said I'd pay that much, so I plan to (just gotta come up with leathers now!)
