Stopped by the track yesterday, there was a supercar rental thing happening out there. $159 for three laps in a supercar (Lambo, Ferrari,Audi, Porsche). Asked if I could use my own helmet as opposed to the loaners they had there that 20 million people before you had worn. The said yes as long as it was not a Snell M designation.Firewa11 wrote:Per the 2013 MotoGP rules (FIM)DarcShadow wrote:Interesting, what do they use?Michael wrote:I know MotoGP does not allow Snell helmets as explained by an Arai rep
Section 2.8.7 (page 131): Helmets must be of the full face type (integral) and conform to one
of the recognised international standards:
• Europe: ECE 22-05 ‘P’
• Japan: JIS
• USA: SNELL M 2010
So, they will take SNELL and ECE, just has to be up to the right revision standard (my Shoei X11 manufactured in 2008 is SNELL M 2000, not 2010).
Interesting that they list SNELL as being a USA standard.
Question? If its been tested that a Snell M designated help can protect my noggin should it impact the ground in a motorcycle accident, Why won't it do the same in a cage (where your strapped in and the chances of your head hittin something are greatly reduced)?
