Introducing myself!

Post by LeanHard » Thu Aug 15, 2013 4:11 am

Hello everyone! My name is Taylor and I have been riding for about 5 years now. I am currently in the NAVY and have been in the FW area for a little over 2 years now. Before I was in the service I was a powersports mechanic at a dealership. I found this group on the web because I get tired of riding by myself all the time. I LOVE motorcycle of all shapes and sizes but the sports bike is my favorite. Im 26 years and own 2 bikes at the moment. 2005 SV1000s and a 2008 GSXR-750. I will ride year around rain or shine unless there is ice on the road. I would consider myself a skilled rider. I know "good bike edicate" when riding with groups though I don't get to do it much. I don't do stunts but I enjoy riding aggressively and eating the edge of my tires in the twisties. I have never done a track day but am vary intrested in doing so. Happy to have found you all and look foreward to seeing you out on the road.

Welcome to the boards. Keep an eye on the club rides section for any upcoming possible rides...also, some of our ride leaders like to post up at the last minute. There is a track weekend this weekend. A few of us will be riding at the track (more on Saturday then Sunday, I think). You are more then welcome to come hang with us out for a few minutes or all day and watch the guys tear it up on the track.

Welcome.
Let me know when you would like to learn more about riding on the track. I'm an instructor for ridesmart and we have a lot of incentives to help riders reduce costs for their first time on the track.

I am very motivated to get out on a track for the first time. The only thing that is holding me up is leathers. I have a leather jacket with armor in it and ICON heavy denim pants with riding boots. SNELL full face helmet and gloves. I need some over the wrist gloves though. I looked at the ride smart website and it looks like I need a 2 piece leathers. Do you rents leathers out? If you are able to give me a deal on the price that would be awesome!!! I'm also military if theres a discount for that?

We have rental leathers, and they're free for first timers. Price for the track day is also half off for your first time.
We dont have gloves but I have a spare pair (size 12 - XLarge) that you can either borrow or buy if you're interested.

As Telomere mentioned, there is a 2-day event at Cresson this weekend if you're interested. I think there are still spots available in Level 1.

That's awesome. I won't be able to join you anytime this month at the track, but looks like you have a track day on the 2nd of next month. I'll do my best to be there then. I got a fresh pair of tires and will replace my front brake pads before then. Thanks a lot!!! I'm siked to finally get on the track. My wife is tired of me talking about it all the time. :D

Yep, best way to bust your track cherry is going with a group that's done it a few times, helps reduce the stresses.

Good to see more gsxr brothers :D

Howdy! You will enjoy Telomere's Tuesday. I will see you there. I have a GSXR and an SV, just that mine are each a step down in displacement from yours. :) And I agree with what Fixxer said. Going with a group for your first track day will most certainly reduce the stress level. If you don't know what is going on it can seem a little bit chaotic.

Where is telomer's? Tried looking in up but couldn't find it. I assume you all get together with some texting along with the forums. How can i give someone my number here without everyone in the world seeing it?

:SideSplittingLaughter: 84 is talking about the ride I am leading Tuesday. He was probably drinking when he posted :) Yes, some of us to text outside the forum. You can just send someone your number via PM (there is a pm button on the bottom of the post for each individual or you can go to new messages up top and compose a new PM).

Yeah, leave it to Jon (84) to confuse people. :SideSplittingLaughter: FYI, we have three stardogs on here so we refer to them by the digits of their birth year (the digits in their screen name).
