mothers chrome polish by far has been some of the best stuff i've ever used. With that being said the item has to be down to a good finish beforehand. Looks like even the have you haven't touched is though

You need to find somebody that polishes tanks and wheels on the big trucks. I want to say it will cost you about 50 bucks to have them polish it out but thats been awhile ago. Check with a big rig shop or ask around at a truck stop.

Diamond plate is not always chromed and shiny, I've seen it come new in that matte finish. So basically it looks like you're not restoring / cleaning it, but rather putting a new polish on it? That might be why it is taking a long time. My previous neighbor was rebuilding a pontoon boat. He decided to polish the pontoons and make them mirror-like shiny, even though new the pontoons were matte. After polishing for 3 months, several days a week, he got one pontoon polished. Still has the other to go. Takes a LOT of time and elbow grease (or drill motor brushes) to make it happen.

My dad did an entire airplane, polishing out the grain in the aluminum and bringing it to a mirror finish. What a PITA. How long did it take you? Might aughta just grab a fresh 12 pack, buckle down and keep doing what you are doing. Looks good so far.

Eastwood has some nice polishing compounds for all different types of metals. I have some I use for polishing feed ramps on my guns.

That half took me about 3 hours and looks like crap still. It didn't come with a matte finish it did shine 17 years ago!!

Get a true buffer machine and use rubbing compound to get the surface shiny, then polish/wax to keep it that way.
