January weather.

Post by WillK675 » Mon Jan 06, 2014 10:57 am

So did anyone else get out and ride this past Saturday? If not and your excuse is the weather... your a pansy. :)) The weather was beautiful and 157 down to venus is awesomely repaved. Anyways, it was an awesome way to spend the first Saturday of the new year, and if you weren't out riding; well you missed out.

I didn't ride and it wasnt because of the weather. Fixxer and I were at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch for Cub-O. I'm glad the weather was nice for that event because otherwise, it would have sucked. That is what we were doing. Our next outdoor event will be the pinewood derby in a couple weeks.

I rode to work on Thursday, it was a little cool out.

Yes, Striple's is bigger than Will's.

Had Dr. appt in FW Friday, then on to in-laws other side of Garland for wife's hair appointment for Saturday, so no, no riding this weekend. However, I did hang out at Triumph/BMW and then Honda dealers along with Cyclegear, and stopped into Fry's and BB to view camera's. So I'm 1/2 pansy I'm thinking.

Spent Saturday and Sunday teaching an MSF-BRC. Saturday was nice, Sunday was a cold ass bitch. But, nowhere near as bad as this mornings ride.

Did y'all know 11 degrees Fahrenheit after a short jaunt on the highway starts to feels warm, and when you go indoors where it is warm it hurts?

:-) I laugh because I do know how that feels. of course I know that feeling from visiting Chicago one winter, not from riding in 11 degree weather.

It's a sensory illusion...the skin is almost burnt, as are the inside of your lungs. Once inside, your epidermis is simply paying you back. It says, "Okay dumbass, you subjected me to that, so how's about trying a little of this" Thus starteth the perception that every nerve you have is on the outside of your skin. Rather invigorating though, isn't it.

:-) :-) And I'm laughing with Will (not at you of course); spent too much time on the tractor in weather like that feeding livestock.

It's going to be nice again this weekend. Monthly ride is scheduled to take advantage of that fact. :D

You scheduled it for Sunday? I can't make sunday. I know, Sunday is going to be nicer than Saturday, but the forecast for Saturday looks pretty good, so I'll be out riding Saturday.

I was out Saturday riding near Austin til I realized I had no f'n clue where I was going and where the next gas station was. I went about 60 miles before turning back for home. 20 miles out my gas light came on and I knew there were no gas stations close by. It was great riding weather. I spent the morning with the top down doing a backroads run with the Miata club to test out the new tires. Even cold they stuck like glue.
