MSRC 5/17 or 5/18?

Post by nitzer » Tue Feb 18, 2014 10:58 am

I'm going to do a level 1 on one of those days. Anyone signed up yet for a specific day? My preference would be for Sunday. There is also a guy from work that wants to get his 250 out there that weekend. He's never been to a Ridesmart track day and of course this will be my first. Who would be the holder of the half off passes? :D I'd like to get signed up so I can solidify my plans...

Thanks.

Looks like this is the list so far:

nitzer Saturday level 1
Stardog84 Both days
Toy7521 Both days level 1
LonestarCBR Both days level 1
Chucls Both days level 1

Cool! You're going to have a blast!

Send an e-mail to accounts@ridesmart.info and tell them that you are planning on doing your first track day, and would like to take advantage of the their 50% off deal. You should get an e-mail with a coupon code from either Dave or Randy.

This is going to be close to the epic ride, but I might make this one. Good way to scrub in some tires before the big trip :)

I'm not going to have tires for this, I'll have to catch one later in the year.

I am planning to be there both days, Saturday on the SV650 and Sunday on the Buell. A friend just signed up for his first TD and got his promo code here.

There should be plenty left over for may since you are so far out. The code listed on the page is

It won't be that impressive. It is 2x the HP and TQ that I am used to. I have heard that they want to wheelie or spin on every exit so I will be very very sane with it. Still, it needs a basic suspension adjustment and I need to get some experience on it at a little bit of pace so I had might as well do it at the one place where I am most comfortable riding. :)

I felt the same way when I put the C-14 on the track for the first time. A 615-lb bagger with 153 hp and 100 lbf·ft of torque (compared to 73 hp and 47 lbf·ft of torque on the SV) were sure to be a buzzkill on the track. But: when I got off the track, I couldn't stop smiling. It was hands-down the most fun I ever had on the C-14, and it was an absolute blast, despite the weight, bulk, and overabundance of power. It might not exactly be the best track bike, but it sure is fun to ride just about any bike on the track.

I've already got a cheapo credit (thanks Shaun), but as I'm a track virgin also, I want to sign-up first with the really cheapo 1/2 off. Just trying to nail down for sure when/where on the first one. I was hoping earlier than May, but that maybe it. I'm not sure I would do both days, but a possibility.

Cresson is an excellent choice, and May often produces fantastic track weather. Do yourself a favor and do both days, you won't regret it (except on the following Monday, when your entire body is sore).

My first few track days I just did one day. The first time I did two days back-to-back at the same track it was a revelation.

Your first day at a track, you're just learning the track itself, i.e. do you turn left or right on the next turn. Two days in a row, it all clicks and you start putting together lines through multiple turns.

So yeah, do both days if you can. It'll be a much better learning experience.

I've already got a really big problem with speed (not the drug). I ride/drive fast everywhere I go. Wife gripes, I grumble.

We have a BMW 335i, a really sweet ride. She drives it daily, and we both comment on how much fun it is to drive. Finally, I get the opportunity to drive it from Garland to Fort Worth without her. "Honey, you know how much fun the Beemer is to drive"? "Yes" she replies. "Yeah, well it's WAY more fun to drive when your not in there" says I. And it really is.

She's always telling me "I can tell you've been out riding our bike again" when I get in a cage to drive.

I can see it now...a track bike in my future.

One good think about track riding, several people will actually ride slightly slower on the street once they start doing track days.
