THEY DID IT!!!

Post by DarcShadow » Fri Feb 28, 2014 4:08 pm

Ride Smart is running COTA again!

Cost is still a bit high, $485 per day. But it's worth it to do it once and make a weekend out of it.

$485 per day, and it will sell out REALLY fast. So be prepared to act fast.

Anyone else planning on going? I would like to do it at least once. The only question in mind for me is one day or two, because that is a hefty price.

I did two last year and am not sorry. First day you really do spend most of it learning and getting use to the track. Second day, nothing but fun!

I'd also suggest, if you're on the fence between level 2 and 3. Run 3. If you're going to be there both days, maybe 2 the first, and 3 the second. There are so many places you want to pass that are technically considered a turn it gets a little frustration in level 2 if you're one of the fast guys.

I did both days last year and it was worth it.

That said, I'm not planning on going this year. I wanted to scratch COTA off my bucket list and I wasn't sure if RS would get more than the one opportunity.

The track is fun as hell, if you're on the fence, do it. If you think you can swing both days, definitely do that. It's very technical and a lot more fun the 2nd day when you have the hang of it.

Kudos to Ridesmart for being able to pull this off again!

If I wasn't racing five different classes this season, the I'd probably be in for this.

I am sure it will be sold out before I can get the money together anyway. I would love to do this one day but would rather pick up a track bike first.

Dude this track is the one to take the BMW to. The other tracks are the ones for a track bike.

Trust me, you want a bike with stonk on the back straight. The S3 got its doors blown off by just about everything, and it kind of sucked. Especially when the people hauling ass were SLOOOOW in the corners and I could catch them but not get around them by the next long straight.

COTA has perfect pavement and most of the run-offs in the tight turns are also paved--just straighten up, bump over the candy stripe, and brake (gently) on the painted pavement. It's the best possible place to haul ass on a bike you don't want to normally risk.

It's a rather low number. Last year I think Cota was only allowing like 35 or 40 bikes on the track at any one time.
