I'm not sure he deserved the hand to the throught for not taking his hands out of his pockets. Unless the cop had knowledge of a weapon involved in the fighting.

the cop gave him a direct order. Punk didn't listen and he went down. I think the tazzer would have been pretty cool to watch also.

Ha Ha...Great Dodge Ball quote. I reviewed this video with my peers and I do not think the officer's actions were necessary for the situation. The taser or pepper spray, or empty hand control should have been used.

Just my 2 cents...

Considering what we saw and the cop knowing he was being filmed, it's exactly what I would expect. A little harsh, maybe ... but when was the last time most of you had to be concerned about someone pulling a gun out of their pocket?

it has been several years sense i had the feeling that a gun might be pulled out of a persons pocket. I know i didn't like that feeling. I would have done the same thing the cop did. why even give him a chance to pull the gun or knife. Take him down before, ask questions later.

There was no reason the even suspect a weapon though. No mention of weapons during the fight, no blood, kid wasnt being beligerant, just not taking his hands out of his pockets. He wasnt acting like he was hiding something

He needed a good shot to the throat!!!! he was told to take his hands out of his pockets and he should have done it. He did can't trust anyone and take all precautions. If that means a shot to the neck then so be it.

Yeah, in this case I don't disagree with the cops decision so much, but tasers are far more enjoyable to watch than throat tackles...

There is more to the video... typical of news media, they only show
the sensationalist part, the ones that keeps their ratings up...

video does not show the cop being briefed with additional circumstances
and did what he had to... But ya gotta admit, entertainment rocks...

I agree with Weaksauce, we needed a grand finale, the throat trick was
short and boring ... I would have probably switched the channel to Renn
and Stimpy to be awed if the network news had shown this live...
