I'm heading down to teach both days. Is anyone else planning the trip?

Not I. I have to take Cait for kayak lessons because she will be going to Colorado with her venture crew for a week in July.

LOL, how could you not expect insurance to be massive on that? Did you forget to call before you bought the bike?

I'll be teaching that weekend also, albeit at MUCH slower speeds. :(

I knew it was going to go up but its 3x more expensive than the 750.

Isn't the bike about 3 times the value of the 750?

No, probably $16k-20k, not a whole lot more than a 750.

But I bet they crash and get stolen a LOT more.

Correcting what I said, I bet the RSV-4 gets a lot more insurance claims than the GSX-R.

Squids may crash gixxers more often, but they may not always be insured (or make claims if they are). Aprilias are for people who want sexy Italian garage queens, so I bet they get claims for the tiniest things that happen, on top of the usual theft, running off the road, etc.

You're telling me a 2009 GSXR 750 cost more than a 2014 RSV-4? Who'd you steal the RSV from?

an 09 750 is going to be around $7000-$8000, $9000 max. MSRP of a RSV-4 is $20,000 so my 3x might of been off, but not by much. And even if you got a hell of a deal, the insurance people will still look at the value of the bike, not the sale price. Then like Rhino said, people are going to claim every little ding and scratch, not to mention all the parts will have the "italian tax" and cost 3 times as much as the exact same part for a jap bike.

Well if you count the farkles, and that one oil change on the GSXR yeah it probably did cost more than the RSV. But you can't count those.

Off the showroom floor, I think they cost just about the same but after you add in the extras on the gixxer (oil change not included), the gixxer cost a lot more than the aprilia. This arpilia is not a factory aprilia so it did cost less than a factory one.

MSRP on the 2014 RSV-4 is $15,500. The Factory is over $20,000.

The gixxer and RSV-4 cost just about the same (not the factory one).

A new gsxr sure but not a 2009 one. The rsv4 is still about 2x the value of the 2009 gsxr.

When I bought the GSXR brand new insurance was under $400 a year full coverage - brand new about the same price as the RSV4

If it makes you feel any better the BMW cost me about 1100 a year for insurance.
