I had to replace one two weeks ago with about 700.

Great ride Miles, thanks for putting it together. 380 miles for me. I was JUST starting to notice a little heat as I pulled into the driveway. 102.7 was the highest I saw going down the highway at speed, about 108 sitting at gas stop with engine heat.

Jon, (sorry, SDHD), good to see you again. Pete, nice to meet you.

As for the cop, let's just leave it at I kept the others out of jail.

Technically I guess I did. Heavy stop and go traffic. Cop rides our ass for miles. Then passes us in the left lane. Finally peels off to make a left turn...only he does't, he pulls back in behind a boat. I see Miles looking around, didn't know if he knew he was still there, couldn't tell if he was about to make a move to get around slower traffic, so I give a left signal, pull left in what is about a 2-3 car gap, ease up besides Miles to give him the tap on the helmet and pointing backwards. Next thing we're getting pulled over. No one knew why so we pulled over as a group. Cop motions me over, "got license and insurance?" I asked what was up? He says "you darted left into traffic then slammed on the brakes. What were you doing". I said well, I gave a signal, I wasn't speeding, and I was pulling up to communicate with the ride leader. He kept pushing the point that i caused the traffic to slam on the brakes, then when I apologized a couple of times he cut me loose. Go figure. I guess he was protecting the public from possible mayhem from an obviously raucous biker gang.

So, my bad.

We'd already stopped a little earlier for Jon's tire, then, and I'm not sure about the others, but as Miles starts to exit the road and I'm moving back over to the right is when I see the cop with lights. So it was probably a little confusing for Miles, it was for me, and probably the others. It's not very often, if ever that you get pulled over when you're doing everything right.

Yes I did. The situation was a little different than most I've been in. With the amount of traffic there really wasn't anything we could do. It was the best option at the time. Hell, we weren't doing anything

I think he probably was thinking "shit, so it's not a young smart-ass punk like I thought". He wasn't prepared to be faced with a smart-ass old punk. I don't guess it makes for as good of a story back at the office.

Following too close. It was a slow day for John Law, so he did a SC&H, stop, check, and hope he could write you a ticket for something, like license and really hopefully for insurance.

Being old does have its advantages sometime. One Friday night in Arlington, my friend and I were riding our GoPeds down to Lake Arlington, with a friend on a Ruckus following. We were on the street doing upper 20's, when I see lights reflecting off the mailboxes. So we all pull over. I'm 40 with a full grey beard and a miners light on my forehead, the other GoPed rider close to 50, and the APD officer gets out and just stands there with his hands in his pockets, not saying anything. I finally initiate the interaction by saying " Hi. How are you officer?" He just said we were really moving, and they looked like fun and what were we doing. I told him we were working on them and on a shake down run with the Ruckus following for safety (total lies). He said to take them home and just drove off, didn't watch to see if we did.
