Help me get my yellow shirt off. :)

Could I talk anyone in to corner working the CMRA sprint races on Sunday the 24th at MSR Cresson? The going rate is $60 but I will gladly pay you $80. You will have a very good vantage point to watch some amazing road racing.

This isn't the same as corner working a track day. You'll get to see some of the best roadracing in the country, including many AMA talents compete in the sprint races. Plus, you're getting paid for it. If you don't mind the heat, then its not a bad gig.

I will have to see if I am on vacation or not. What are the times?

Seems like cheating to let someone else do your corner working. How are you going to learn anything?

Its not cheating. CMRA explicitly allows provisional novices to have one of their corner working days completed by a third party. Many prov novs go that route. I did both of my own corner working days, but I've also corner worked some additional days to help other prov novs. If I wasn't competing that day, I'd help Jon with his one day as well.

6:30am at tech. Ask for Barry Nichols, and tell him that you're corner working for Jon.

Be prepared for a long, hot day. Bring a chair & cooler with snacks and drinks. Don't forget to bring sunscreen as well.

And text me to let me know what turn you're going to be in.

Cornerworking CMRA is indeed awesome, especially if you get on a corner to watch the experts slide in sideways before hitting the corners. I wonder why CMRA requires 2 cornerworking days if someone else can do yours for you? When I did mine they stressed it was so you can see the action up close and get an appreciation for all aspects of the race.

Might want to take a canopy if CMRA doesn't provide one.

Canopies and lunch are provided.

CMRA decided to allow prov novs to use a proxy for one of their two corner working days several years ago. This was done to make it easier for those who did not want to sacrifice a race event in one of their competition classes to fulfill their prov nov requirements.

Obviously they've bent the rules to where you aren't required to do, so you can race. So why even have the requirement anymore?

My opinion... Drop the requirement, or stick to it.. don't bullshit around it.

Its been discussed ad nauseum in the CMRA. The end result was the rule as it stands.

For some folks your ability to attend is limited for one reason or another. Me, for instance, I have to work 26 weekends per year. Letting me farm out one corner working day and do one day saves them $120 in corner worker pay and still allows me to get out there and race (and spend my $180 on entry fees). So they are coming out $300 ahead. Kind of.

Miles, you are the best. :D
