Sena blog

Post by shilka99 » Fri Dec 05, 2014 6:03 pm

I just posted a new blog on Ridesmart.info about my experiences with helmet communicators. El Presidente gets his mugshot front and center from the day we worked together at Cresson. I couldnt help but draw parallels between him and some star wars baddies!

Does anyone else have thoughts on using the Senas? I forwarded the blog to my buddy at Sena so I'm hoping to get some other comments in there to show the company just how we use the devices and what their limitations are.

Now that the season is over I sent back the first 20S pair after they started cracking around a screw at the front of the case. The Sena engineer I talk to said they'd never seen this before but of course they never saw someone use them as heavily as I do.

Anyway, all thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

Excellent - being able to speak and receive real time communication is priceless.

Even while riding street we can make real time adjustments to pace to accommodate riders to improve safety vs waiting for a gas stop to talk about how the group is doing.

I spent two days in a row at the track. The one session on Day 2 riding with you on comms taught me more in total than all of the classroom instruction, and much of the riding. It was invaluable. Sorry we forgot to include that on my interview at the track in November.

I have yet to experience it on the track but I can only imagine what priceless tools they must be for the coaching you do (we will have to try it out one day!! :) ) considering how great I think they are for rides.

It's key to be in constant communication with your group and I learned a bit more about group riding with the Sena on (and was greatly entertained especially when the tractors showed up ;) ). It is no doubt important for the ride leader to know what is happening at the back of the pack where he or she cannot see and I was able to better understand by explanation why quick adjustments were made during the ride. Also my first club ride with Telo it was invaluable. We hit a few areas that from a newb perspective gave me a few WTF moments but she talked me through it and the ride rocked.

Safe fun. Who doesn't like that? ;)

Great feedback guys.

Can you do me a favor and post these comments in the blog itself? Dave will wet himself when he sees these.

Yeah, you have to jump through the hoops to create an account, but once you do it's painless. Or at least it has been for me.

How's about someone who knows sharing the secret handshake...please. I'm probably blind, but I'm logged into Ridesmart, and don't see instructions to create anything else or how to post to the blog. I see Dave's comments on Discus, but not sure how to sign up to that if this is where I'm supposed to be.

I think i got through it the first time by trying to make a comment. That's when the Disqus hoops pop up for you to jump through.

I've posted, looks like I tagged onto Dave's comment, so I might not have done it exactly correct.

Do you want non-track rider feedback too?
