Availability and availability of upper's. RR A4 would be preferred but I'm not standing in line at the gun show to HOPE I can find one there and pay 3X the MSRP. When things calm down I can order a bull barrel dpms upper over the internet from anyone for cheap, they key is I have a 308 lower now.

I hate to say it but commie guns rock the house, if had to "zombie bug out" and I had to choose between an AK or an AR .308 carbine I'd most likely grab the AK.

it's more like a long term investment, the actual procurement of such a thing doesn't cost that much, the maintenance over time is what kills you.
