The Right Stuff?
The Right Stuff?
Hello everyone,
I have been riding for over 20 years on cruisers and decided to get a bike that was more like my Vette so I got a 2010 R1. I can't get my wife to ride on the back of this new one, but heck that is what the Roadking is for... You won't see me doing wheelies and stoppies, but you might see me as I pass you by . I am looking to do track days. I have a lot to learn on this new scooter and for me that is the fun of this ride. I have been working on adjusting pre-load and dampening (compression high and low and rebound) as well as adjusting the clutch and break levers etc... I will not mod it for horsepower only for performance and making it run cooler. I am not sure if this club is for me, if it is about wheelies and stoppies then probably not. If it is about enjoying the sport bike for performance and handling then most likely yes. While I have been riding for over 20 years I am not naive enough to think that I can ride this bike like it was meant to be ridden in just a day or two. I have had this bike for about 2 weeks and have put on about 700 miles. I am looking for some twisty roads out there and some friends to ride them with.

Sounds like we should be a great match for you! There are a bunch of us getting out on the track Oct 1st for the 1st time, and some guys will be in level two. Check out ridesmart for more information on that. And you are welcome to pit with us if you decide to go on the 1st. MSR-C is a great beginner track from what I hear

Welcome!
We're definitely not that kind of club. We're more about riding fast and safe than getting one wheel or the other off the ground. You should definitely swing by the Pour House on 7th street just west of downtown Ft. Worth this Thursday for bike night and meet everybody. It sounds like you'd fit in just fine.

Re: The Right Stuff?
Give it time, something about sport bikes, you just can't help yourself. (I also say learning to do and endo can help you. It's saved my butt a couple of times.) You've found the right group though. We are all a bunch of track rats these days and you should fit in nicely. We like to tear it up out in the country side but we usually keep it resonable. There should be a ride this weekend, probably Saturday, an announcement in the ride section should be posted soon.haucke wrote:You won't see me doing wheelies and stoppies

Re: The Right Stuff?
Welcome to the club! I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself here! Everyone is great, and while we believe in riding our performance machines with performance in mine, safety is of the utmost concern to all involved. As was mentioned, bike night is this Thursday, and if you check the Ridesmart section, there a bunch of us signed up for October 1st!

EL Diabro I would like to say I love the Raven color scheme.El Diabro wrote:.....there something you want to discuss Fixxer?fixxervi6 wrote:White bike, good choice
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body; but rather to skid in sideways thoroughly used up, totally worn out and yelling at the top of your lungs "Holy Shit...What a ride!"

Hey now I've heard you say you like the Busa in white too!El Diabro wrote:.....there something you want to discuss Fixxer?fixxervi6 wrote:White bike, good choice
I dunno, something about white bikes thats "different" cause everyone seams to go for like black and red so white kind of stands out.
Other than that kawi green, that's in a league of its own.
