Hah, all they are doing is adjusting the road signs to match what people already drive out there in the middle of nowhere (out towards El Paso and such).

I liked the original news report a few months back where the gov guy said they didn't know why there was a slower limit for night driving. Um...maybe it's because you can't see as far. Duh. lol Hell even at 65 you're seriusly over driving your lights. Not that I think it should be slower, but I can at least see reasoning for it.

Texas was one of the last states to still have different night speed limits. These date back to when farm equipment was more prevalent on the roads and there weren't as many larger highways as there are now. Glad to see them gone.

Slower speed is safer.
The reason the night speed limits are slower is because of 1> Headlights did not shine as brightly as they do today, and 2> animals on the road.

Depends on why your moving. Slower may not be safer if you've got a homicidal maniac chasing you.

I have this theory about every day riding. I mean how do you know if someone is after you till it is to late? You have to do it my way and just exceed the speedlimit by enough that if someone is catching up to you then you can tell!
