Actually trains would be the easiest to convert to full electric. They alrady are electric powered, the diesal just powers the generator. All they really need to do is run power lines alone all the train tracks and hook onto them like they do the trolly cars. Granted the power and distance is going to be an issue, but they are the most pratical to making the full converstion.

Was at Infineon Raceway, aka Sears Point, this past Sunday. Got it from a guy who had a last-minute mechanical and couldn't make it, so I only paid $225, instead of the normal $290. Have I mentioned that I miss Texas track prices?

Had a blast in the "fast intermediate" group, really felt like I was getting comfortable with the track, and finally got comfortable enough to use all the power the FZ1 has. I think I need a steering damper, cause my front end was really light and wiggly coming out of a lot of the corners. Helluva lot easier to pass people with the throttle then on the VFR, though!

Haha, yeah. Let's put it this way: last weekend, while I was doing my Hwy 36 trip, the AMA races were at Infineon. So it's not too shabby.

Haha, yup, one of the only adornments on my bike. Rockin' the shark on the front fender, trackday level sticker on the instrument cluster, and my IBA license-plate frame and National Park annual pass sticker on the rear.

It is really nice not having to tape up lights. Just pull the fuses, and remove or tape mirrors. There are a few orgs that require water wetter in place of coolant, but I haven't run with one of those yet (and probably won't!).

And now, I officially qualify as a severe carrier of MBS: Multiple Bike Syndrome. One of my good friends out here (known him for over 10 years, he officiated V&I's wedding) has been gradually slipping out of riding for some years now, especially since popping out his kid a year ago. His '00 R6 has been collecting dust in his garage, and now he's moving and didn't want to bother with the hassle of selling a 12 year old bike that runs a bit rough and has some cosmetic issues. So, he calls me up... "Hey, you want the R6?" Me: "YES, but V would kill me if I bought another bike." He: "I'm not selling it, you can have it, just pay whatever transfer taxes there are." Ka-CHING.

So... my soon-to-be trackbike!

Image

Image

(the 250 is currently on loan to a coworker who has 4 other vehicles, none of which run...)

In other news, V&I are have been looking at houses for the past few weekends and are narrowing down our choices rapidly... Yay for extra garage space and guest bedrooms (and baby bedrooms? Hmm, not quite yet, but congrats to all you fornicating fertile mofos who are a step ahead of us!).

Also, Tesla delivered its first two Models S a few weeks ago, to VC Steve Jurvetson (below) and CEO Elon Musk. The next 10 deliveries are scheduled for this Friday. We are making cars, baby! Exciting times out here.

Anyways, that's my update... till next time, ride safe!

Leaving tomorrow morning. Need to be in Post Falls, ID for a family reunion at my uncle's house by Thurs evening. Going to try and meet my immediate family in Butte, MT on Wednesday night. Am I f*king crazy for considering six straight 400 mile days?

http://goo.gl/maps/rit3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm pretty sure I've gone crazy. The nice thing is, at any point between days 1 and 4 I can say screw it, I'm just going to head for Post Falls and take it easy for the rest of the ride. As for how likely that would be, well...
