Help in West

Post by DarcShadow » Fri May 17, 2013 10:23 am

West was flooded with volunteers and aid after the furtalizer plant explosion. However the help is fading even though there is still a lot that needs done.

The Fort Worth Motorcycle Riders are going to go down Sunday, May 26th and help where we can. Not sure exactly what we will be doing yet or what we will need to take with us. So far all that has been suggested is work gloves.

Lets meet at the Waffle House in Burleson and plan to leave no later than 8:30. We'll head to West, meetup with our contact and do what they need us to do.
251 West Rendon Crowley Road
Burleson, TX 76028

If you can't make it that early, you can always meet up with us in West at a later time. If you don't already have the phone number of someone going post here and we'll be sure to get you a number. I don't know how late any of the other volunteers stay but you are welcome to leave when ever you want. Even if you can only be there to help for a couple of hours that's better then nothing.

Lets start a list of who plans to go and if you'll be leaving from the Waffle House, or meeting up in West.

I got all the trash pickup gear, so if we need that stuff, let me know during the week sometime.

The gloves would be handy, don't think we'd need any of the other stuff.

I'm gonna drive. Not knowing what we are doing, I dont' want to get down there, and be too worn out to ride home at the end of the day.

Don't know if I will be able to make it. I am expecting my mother to arrive sometime during the weekend.

Only 5 of us? Who is wanting to meet at Waffle House and who want to just meet up in West? From Waffle House it's about 50 min, so plan on getting to West at 9:30.

Ok, got an update. We're suggest to bring work gloves, work shoes/boots, open sandles not recommended. They will have a cooler with water but if we want soda or anything else we'll need to bring it ourselves. We will mainly be working in a house cleaning it out and moving things to storage. The windows are boarded up and there is no power so bring any flash lights you may have.

We will meet in West in a parking lot just to the east of I-35 and Oak Street right across from the sonic. I told her we would be there between 9:00 and 9:30.

Who has some work lights we can use? My truck has the AC power converter built in so we can run an extension cord to run some lights inside. I'll also throw a cooler in the truck for anything we want to carry down.

one thng on the lights,Wilk's truck can only handle up to 400 watts so you might want to look at an led setup or a generator unless we are going to have acess to power.

Yeah, and after looking a bit online I'm not finding anything I like. I don't want halogen, they get too damn hot and the bulbs just don't last. Lowes and HD don't carry any other light stands, half tempted to buy this from Walmart
Image but I know from past experience floor lamps tend to get knocked over easily in a shop setting. Oh well, I have a couple of clamp lights I'll bring with CFL bulbs so they shouldn't put much of a strain on the system at all.
