Yes. That includes taxes and shipping, based on a case of oil.
As an aside, Texas charges an additional excise tax on oil of 1 cent per quart. That tax must be added to the product total prior to calculating sales tax. So you are paying tax on a tax. Fucking government.

Re: Rotella T6
I'd like to make it today. It wouldn't ship until Monday at the earliest anyway, so I don't have to order it today if you need more time. If there is enough interest I could pick up the order instead of shipping it. That would reduce the cost some, but It would have to be a large enough order to justify the cost of driving to Arlington and back.DemonDuck wrote:When will ya be making the order?

I'll buy 2 quarts off of you, I bought 4, the Gixxer only takes around 2 5/8 qts to do a oil+filter change, so if I get two more quarts I'll have enough to cover my next change. Which likely won't be for another 7k miles.

Fell back to Mobile1 this morning. Silver cap.
The Triumph ST forum guys have been using it for years. Some of the bikes are over 100k now and nothing but good things to say.
I be modifying that friction too.

How long should you wait on mileage before making the switch? Triumph Speed Triple, I've had my 600 miles service, at about 1300 miles now, and my previous practice was to change oil every 2000, but I would assume longer intervals with the Rotella, yes?

Re: Rotella T6
I change my Rotella T6 out every 3k miles. I wouldn't run it longer, although it probably would be fine. Before yous switch to rotella make sure you read up, it's a big debate.

Re: Rotella T6
I go 5K between changes no matter what oil I use. Currently I'm using Mobil 1. This is one of those things you can talk to 100 different people and get 100 different views. But really if you change your oil frequently enough it doesn't make much difference what oil you run. Hell you could run cooking oil if you changed it often enough.
And then there's the typical life span of a sport bike vs the motor of a sport bike. The bike is more likely to die before the motor, ie hit a car, tumble through the weeds, bounce off a tire wall, flip off the line at the drag strip.

Okay, I've now had time to read all of the posts on this thread and the Rotella will go the way of the pickle chain cleaner...damn-it. There's always someone screwing up a perfectly good cheapo work around with science and logic. Thanks for the input.

Re: Rotella T6
I've been running rotella for a long time now and so have several thousand other people, it even has the rating for motorcycles. Don't get all bent out of shape about people who are nazi about motorcycle oil. ....and with that i fully respect why they do.

Fortunately, we have science to trump opinion. Oil analyses are cheap and easy to get done. No need to rely on the opinions formed by "butt dynos."milesmiles wrote:Don't get all bent out of shape about people who are nazi about motorcycle oil. ....and with that i fully respect why they do.

Re: Rotella T6
As soon as I change my oil I will send the Rotella in to be tested. Then next I will send Amsoil in next oil change and we can look at the difference.

Re: Rotella T6
Wasn't sure if I should post it here or somewhere else.
This is my results from 5k miles on the Rotella. If you don't care to look at the sheet I will sum it up. They said everything looks good and even extend the miles between changes to 7k miles. I did a couple of track days on this oil as well as some other stuff that was not easy on the bike. I will post the results of the Amsoil as soon as I get the 5k miles on it.

Re: Rotella T6
Nice, thanks for taking the time to post this. I've been changing the rotella every 3k. I know at that many miles cost savings really doesn't factor in though. I think I'll be doing this in the future as well

Re: Rotella T6
The low viscosity is almost certainly due to the high metal count (especially iron, which is the one parameter that really sticks out in that UOA), which is not surprising for Rotella. The Amsoil MCF typically performs significantly better, since it is much more shear-resistant than the Nutella.

But as stated does not surprise them due to 3800mi being the normal test, correct?

Re: Rotella T6
Its not shocking, no. That said, a 5K-mile interval isn't large enough to where I personally would feel comfortable finding low viscosity values. Using a more shear-resistant oil would more than likely fix that issue, and allow you to go further with improved viscosity. The high metal wear itself should also improve with increased viscosity, although you may not be able to drop it below the desired threshold.
