Want an oven

Post by DarcShadow » Mon Sep 22, 2014 11:05 am

So as you may of saw in the recent purchase thread, I am now the owner of a powder coat gun. However, I do not have an oven so I'm on the hunt for one. I'll probably just get an used toaster oven to start off with but if anyone knows of a great deal, or preferably free, old oven let me know.

Once I get something setup, and any of you want something powder coated I'd be happy to let you come use the equipment..

You buy/find the oven and we'll make it happen.

Yes, so? And $75 is WAY to much, I found one for $30 but I'm hoping to find one for free. Saw one that was listed on Craigslist under the free section about a month ago. Currently I don't really have a place for a full size oven yet. Will need to wire up a 220 line some place, probably in the shed out back but that means I'll have to move things around as it's pretty full right now.

Red, Blue, and black came with the gun. You can get pretty much any color you want, http://www.eastwood.com/paints/hotcoat- ... wders.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Just found a DIY for doing rims. Guy took some sheet metal, and basically made a cylinder oven to hold the rim and stuck a heat gun through a hole. Had to run it for over an hour to get the needed temp but it did work.

There are people in the neighborhood moving and getting rid of stuff, I'll keep my eyes out for a large toaster oven. I could always get a new one and give you mine, a good excuse to get a new one LOL

Any free toaster oven would be a good start. I might even look into building a custom oven with a toaster donating the necessary parts.

So gloss then. Gloss red. Candy coated, that's what I want. Pearly, something that pops.

They even have glow in the dark colors.

Doing some reading up on things and sounds like doing 2 coats is not the easiest thing to do and may require a better gun than what I have. Apparently translucent as a 2nd layer are really difficult to work with.

I'm a pro with flat black in a rattle can, but that's it. Plus I'm not really going the cheap route on this project
