Surgery update

Post by El Diabro » Fri Jan 07, 2011 6:54 pm

Well I'm couch bound and down, loaded up on meds...but the doc said this will fix my leg.
I've got alot of pain, but I've got no shame...recovering and back to riding is my plan

seriously, they found two huge bone spurs that they lasered off, and apparently I have layers and layers of scar tissue built up. They lasered all that off also, as well as cleaning up all the frayed ends where what reamins of my meniscus was torn. I have to be in a CPM which is a machine that continuously moves my leg so the knee will build up its range of motion back faster and lessens recovery time and helps eliminate the formation of new scar tissue.

I'll keep eveyone updated and feel free to text or call me anytime.

Be safe guys and gals!!!

thanks 'Grinna' and yeah this coming week would've been a wash anyways. I have to admit considering how cold natured I am (prefer the home to be 72-73degrees) my cold threshold is increasing. I originally said nothing colder than 60F, then 50F, then 40F....but after that ECR toy run I'll ride out to work in the mornings as long as it's 36F or above :)

anyways, thanks again for the well wishes and hope you guys enjoyed the egg rolls! They are some of my faves!

i was beginning to think i was gonna have to start a reserve/sick list after we talked yesterday.

got sauter on the mends, grinner with a sore ankle that gives him fits off and on, and now you. not to mention me stuck with this lingering cold from all the crazy weather this winter, and found out poor Ruby got sick after getting her shots for her trip to south africa this summer (plans to follow around a wildlife vet for 4 weeks).

but you seemed in decent spirits, so i hope you were able to get some sleep. stay warm this week and we'll see you again.

oh, and as i said yesterday, the egg rolls were nom, nom. after all that was bought, and brought last weekend, Grinner and I will be able to eat well for one more week, lol. It's kind of entertaining how much we accumulate here at the tree house any time anyone comes over.

take care.

Well brother I will say a prayer for you on a quick recovery. The CPM thingy sounds pretty cool & painful at the same time. Didn't know they had anything like that. God speed to ya.

Best of luck on the restructuring and I hope you heal up quick. I'm nursing 4 herniated disks and hoping I don't need surgery. I think being off the Bitch for months let my back muscles weaken and allowed the injury to occur just picking up my wheels/tires.

So what happened to your knee? It wasn't from the ditch incident was it? Something you didn't to it and didn't know it was bad in the past or what? Glad it went well and hopefully we'll see you soon! Didn't see what the estimated time of rehab is on something like that?

Nah, it's just wear and tear from previous sports injuries and things of that nature. I've had surgery on both knee's in the past for ACL tears and with this one I tore what's remaining of my meniscus, had several layers of scar tissue that had built up, and two bone spurs, one which was behind my kneecap. Nothing motorcycle related. Not sure on total recovery as far as returning to sports but it shouldn't be longer than 6 weeks, just in time for Ridesmart in March hopefully. We'll set a therapy schedule next week, but I've been doing excercises ordered by the doc already. I'm hoping to have enough strength and flexibility to be riding the 'Busa in 3 more weeks or so....
