2007 Triumph Daytona 675
Howdy, FWMR...
I'm thinking of upgrading (from a Kawa Ninja 500R) to a Daytona 675. Good decision? Bad decision? The specs and reviews look great on this bike. Of course, i'll get frame sliders!
Any feedback on this bike? Personal expy?

I've only test rode the 675 but I really liked it. The seating felt a bit odd, felt more like you were on top of the bike then usual but I'm sure you'd get use to it soon enough. It has great power through out the rev range. It'll get up and go in just about any gear at any speed. And the sound of the triple is unlike anything else on the road. The only down side is Cycle Werkz won't work on Triumphs.

Dude - that would be the most excellent decision you could make.
-
That Triumph Triple - up above 5k is - is the trumpets of Gabriel I'm telling ya.
-
Everybody likes to ride behind me to hear the pipe on my Trip 955 !
-
And the handling on that thing - Your gonna hafta take raceing school lessons so you can stay on the top of it. Like a Ferrari or a Lamborghini you just think and it's already there.
-
Woo Hoo.

ok... as the other guy with a 650 Daytona (remember Darc's is the faster, dirtier one, mine is cleaner and slower!! ) I too rode the 675 and really, really liked it...
advantages... for a Triumph, there are actually a wide selection of aftermarket parts... including racing farings... It's a triple... WOW what sound... and fun, fun, fun!!!
disadvantages... you pretty much have to get it serviced at Eurosport, which is not bad, they are really good folks.. it's just a little limiting... and I found the bike to be a bit small... it would be an amazing track day bike... but maybe just a bit small for extended riding...
If I was buying a "600" right now it would either be a 675 or the new Honda... and I really do lust after the 675...
and after two years with my triumph... I'm very happy with it!!!

I've also proven on several occasions, that the 650 anyway, is very durable, off the track several times, off a curb, hit a car, off the track some more, it just keeps coming back for more.

Sparrowhawk - The current issue of Sportbike magazine has a "shootout" of the current model 600's. They are not kind to the Triumph but then all of them are within 2 seconds of each other on a track.

I like Triumphs. Have you seen the Triumph Speed Triple or the ST? http://www.triumph.co.uk/usa/4503.aspx

S3 is the win
Thanks for all the feedback, gentz.
I also had my eye on a Speed Triple (thanks Karl) and after demoing it, it just "felt right".
I am now the proud owner of this lovely beast:

I have had my eyes on that beast when I visit the Euro delareships
I love the looks of that bike, the naked look is cool, and cheaper Insurance!
You'll love the single sided swingarm, it makes it so convenient changing
the rear tire without messing up the chain tension.
Congratulations, keep us posted of its performance.
Cheers

HAHA! No doubt. I totally dig Giger's work. That musta been in the back of my mind the whole time. Nice analysis, Dave. Now I just need to find a lid with a facehugger mod on it.Super Dave wrote:Remember the movie, ALIEN.....................................................nevermind!
Did I mention the bike has a 12v socket mod interface for easy iPod, cellphone, etc. hookup? Oh yeahz.

Triumph service?
So where do u Triumph owners get your bikes serviced? EuroSport Cycle seems to be the closest dealership to where I live, but why is it "limiting"? I suppose there is a story behind this, no?

EuroSport is the only place near by. The limiting issue is that, they are pretty much the only one's near by that'll work on them. They're a good shop though, I've never had any issue with them.
