Calling all engineers!!

The elementary school that my son attends has a "hats off to science" assignment that is school-wide. They do this instead of dressing up for Halloween. The kids are assigned a different "science" word along with the definition and they have to design a hat (whether brown bag, newspaper, old ball cap, etc) and decorate the hat to best describe their science vocabulary word. The hat also has to contain the science word so that it can be seen from a distance. Eric's word this year is Mass (the amount of matter in something--> that is the actual definition that accompanies the word). Does anyone have any brilliant ideas on how to design a hat that describes the word? I have absolutely NO IDEA how to depict mass in a hat design. Last year, Eric's word was movement. I made a hat that consisted entirely of slinky's to depict movement. Mass is completely different and I have no ideas at all. Of course, this is a mandatory graded assignment and it is due October 28th!! If there are any engineers that can come up with a creative design or help me design it, I would be appreciative

What about the age old question, what weighs more, a pound of bricks or a pound of feathers? That could be turned into a hat.

I have enough cardboard around that I could probably make a hat like that. We can spray paint it too.

A pound of bricks = a pound of feathers (maybe that can be a hat too...brick = feathers..the actual object and not the words), although I would much prefer to lay on a pound of feathers

Yeah that's what I was thinking. No easy way to display it, so make it interesting enough to have to talk through it.
