Howdy howdy
Hi, I'm Brian. I'm friends with Teresa and Jon, the other Stardogs. I wear a kilt when I ride my bike.
I picked up my bike a few months ago from a friend who moved to Austin and didn't want to take it with him. It's a Kawasaki ZR-7S, and I plan on it being my means of travel when the commies take over.
I haven't been riding for very long, and I hate to admit it but I'm still very much a beginner, but I'm taking the safety course this weekend. If you'll have me out, I'd like to meet up with you guys sometime. Unfortunately though, I work until 10 on weeknights, and I see you guys do things on Thursdays. I'll be able to trade shifts on occasion, but probably not too frequently.
Other than that, I like drinking beer, grilling up some dead animals, drinking beer while grilling up some dead animals, playing guitar and shooting guns. I work for the DFW Auto Auction and occasionally get to drive some really cool stuff.
Hope to see you guys soon!

Glad to have you, i must ask, what is a stardog? Anyways no worries about being a beginner rider. Just get your msf and get use to the bike controls and we will have a ride that will suit you just fine.

Re: Howdy howdy
Stardog Champion is a song by a band called Mother Love Bone. They should have been what Nirvana was, but the singer, Andy Wood, died. Two of MLB's members, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament went on to form Pearl Jam. Andy was also roommates with Chris Cornell of Soundgarden. You've probably heard Hunger Strike by Temple of the Dog. Little known fact: 'temple of the dog' is a line from the MLB song Man of Golden Words. That album is a collaboration between those guys and Eddie Vedder as a tribute to Andy.

Welcome to the boards. Hope you can make it out to meet the group soon. In the meantime, as said already, go take the MSF. Also find a parking lot, and practice. You want to get used to the controls, and feel of the bike, and a slow pace in a parking lot is the best place for that. Also, don't hesitate to ask questions around here. We are all more than happy to answer them, and to pass along knowledge.

Yep, definitely get lots of practice and come out and meet everybody. You might want to hold off on a club ride until you've got a few thousand miles under your belt.
Also, you guys are going to have to do something about the Stardog names. No way we'll be able to tell you all apart.

Best place to learn, crappy back roads. Learn to ride good there and you can ride good anywhere. I road some pretty bad roads the first few months of bike ownership.

This explains why you seem to be drawn to pretty bad roads as a seasoned rider...DarcShadow wrote:I road some pretty bad roads the first few months of bike ownership.

Wait, another star dog?
Is this like the collective, 1 of 3, 2 of 3? How many star dogs are there?
Welcome
There is nothing wrong with being new, it's not a crime or anything like that, we were all new to two wheels at one time, and in certain aspects of our riding we always "newbies"
For SURE go get your MSF done, it's a great place to start and it's required for your M endorsement these days anyway. Get some seat time and get comfortable with the operation of the machine, and in the mean time, check out our socials funcitons whenever possible to start getting some faces and names put together.

Re: Howdy howdy
Welcome Brian. Hope to get to meet you tomorrow or when you get time off from work to come to a bike night. Don't worry about being new. Everyone has to start somewhere and some of us are still trying to work on some aspect of our riding skill. The more you ride, the more you will learn. Good luck this weekend with the MSF. I hope it isn't too hot out there for you!
