That was good. Unfortunately I think the idiot is going to get re-elected. I hope I'm wrong.

I just hate how presidents get credit or blamed for everything. They have very little control over anything and there are hundreds of other people making all the things happen. The veto option is the only thing the President can acutally be blamed or credited for. Everything else is just policy that both the Congress and Senate approved. Presidents are largly just a figure head.

Yep. The president has a few more powers than that--the executive order has become a more and more powerful tool since FDR basically did a power land-grab to do an end-run around Congress. Lots of his stuff got slapped down by the Supreme Court, but the fact has remained that the POTUS can do a lot.

That said, most of what Obama has been blamed for really rests on W and the Republican congress. Obama inherited a big ass mess from W, and congress basically sat on their asses doing absolutely nothing just to make Obama look bad.

If I could, I'd fire every incumbent in congress of both parties just to teach those bastards a lesson about playing partisan politics while the country is all fucked up. I'm personally a bigger fan of Obama than Romney, just because I'm scared to death of a president who can't even make up his mind what his real stance is on any issue. At least with Obama you know what you're getting. With Romney we'll be at the mercy of public opinion, partisan politics, and who knows what else. His stances last as long as the next approval rating poll.

The president doesn't have much power himself, but he does have the power to put people into the positions that have true power, his cabinet.

It doesn't really matter who gets elected. No one can fix the problems in 2 years. The second 2 years are just spin control to try and get re-elected. A second term President actually has a bit more drive since they don't have to worry about getting re-elected and they can focus on what needs to be done rather then trying to make everyone happy. Making people happy and doing what is right rarely fall in line with each other.

By definition, the US cannot be a Third World country. It's a Cold War term for countries not aligned with either the US or the USSR.

What's funny is he didn't inherit the economy because of George W. the issues and laws passed stem back from when Clinton was in office(granted I know he didn't create the legislation he just signed them into law). I think one of the funniest comments that democrats are making is that the republicans are the hold up in congress. I'll have to find the article but the republican held house has voted on more bipartisan legislation than the democrat held senate, and it's by a huge amount.

You are right war time is about the most prosperous for any country. I don't like either choice as they would have you believe it to be. Honestly I think Ron Paul or Gary Johnson would be better choices. I really like Matt Snyder but I think he has even less of a chance than Paul or Johnson but the idea of a person that is non political being elected is great.

The big problem we have is the political system. President Washington warned against political parties. What is worse is that we don't just have political parties we have only 2 real political parties which makes the problem huge.

I have not gone to vote yet but I will and I don't remember how it went last time but my dad asked me the other day who I was going to vote for because they already voted. I told him I don't know for sure. He told me well are you going to vote dem or repub? You have to choose which one. He really thinks there is no other choice and in a way he is right because like him a lot of people don't know there are other choices and they don't have much of a chance to win because of it. They don't even get invited to debates and such. Anyway it seems that when you go to vote they ask which way you are voting and give you the choices for that party. Why is that? Why don't I go up to the computer and it just show me every possible choice without regard to party? Why does it even tell you the party? If I want to vote for Obama as president and Paul Ryan for vice then I should be able to do that. BAH ... ok im done.
