Keep an eye out.

Post by WillK675 » Tue Sep 24, 2013 1:48 pm

My truck got broken into yesterday evening, and my backpack stolen. The main things that were in there were my work Laptop, my camera, and my Tablet. So for those of you that are constantly looking at craigslist, keep an eye out for a MacBook Pro 13"; an Asus Transformer Infinity (TF700t) w/ dock; and a Canon G7 digital camera. I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

That sucks, dude. Sorry to hear.

I'm guessing your comprehensive policy won't cover any of those items?

My first car (for 11 years) was a '94 Ford Ranger Splash. Before I had it it was broken in to and my dad's leather bomber jacket was stolen. Later that day that sorry fucking thief pulled a gun on a cop and was shot to death wearing that jacket. They refused to give it back. I hope your luck is better.

The personal property falls under the Homeowners policy. My deductible there is 1k, and the cost of my personal items is about 1200 so I'm S#*t out of luck.

A month ago my wifes was at work and someone broke the window of are new car. All they took was a cell phone charger... They damaged the door and some other areas. $500 deductible over a cell phone charger! I wish we would of just kept the car unlocked. Lol.

I had to replace a $400 lock assembly on my truck for some yahoo that wanted my backpack, but didn't actually make it into the truck.

We've had our vehicles robbed a few times, buddy of mine had his 9 stolen out of his truck.

Most likely teenagers looking for a low risk quick buck, less likely to get shot busting into a car than into a house.

I'd be pissed if somebody broke into my car, and didn't actually take the car.

I've been fortunate though; never had a break-in, and none of my vehicles have ever been stolen, despite having lived in some pretty shady areas.

My old truck someone unlocked it, got in, took some stuff, and then locked the truck back up before they left. The truck was old school and you had to hold up on the door handle while closeing the door to get it to lock so who ever did it had to make an effort to lock it. Granted if you knew what you were doing you could unlock it with a coat hanger in about 10 seconds.

Depends on who's car... I would shoot em if I caught em. But I guess it is a little safer.

Back in HS my buddy caught someone trying to steal the radio out of his Camaro. That dude got a baseball bat directly to the front of his knee. After that he was fresh out of fight and just had to lay there in agony waiting for the cops to show up. Ouch.

I think I saw a movie about your buddy. Did he also force that guy to put his teeth on the curb?

But yeah, good move. I like the idea of a good beat-down to any would-be robber. Its so much more personal and intimate than just pulling a trigger.

I would never kill anyone for property. Just my opinion but there is nothing in my car that is worth somomes life.

If I saw my TV running down the sidewalk I would let them go. If I saw them coming in my window I would bleed them out as fast as a .45 could get the job done.

Agreed. No single item is worth the flashbacks or the lawyer bill.... once they are off of the premises.

Also, I like to use alternate methods of keeping thieves away.

But there are a few side effects: sometimes the bike is in some tree, because that is where the snake went. Othertimes, both bike and snake are inside a creek. Just hanging. But yeah--its effective!
